수학 교구의 관점에서 「주판」에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구를 통해서 「주판」이 앞으로 수학 교수-학습 방법의 효과성을 높이기 위해 어떠한 측면에서 활용될 수 있는지에 관하여 살펴보았다. 수학 교육에 있어 주판의 역할과 기능을 살펴보았고, 주판의 역사와 관련 문헌 고찰을 통해 ‘이론적 근거’를 정당화하였다. 또한, 선행연구를 통해 주판은 수·연산의 발전과 함께 가장 오랜 기간 동안 사용되어온 수학 학습 도구이며 ‘학습능률을 높이고 교육적 효과를 증진시킬수 있다’는 교구가 갖고 있는 본래의 기능을 해낼 수 있는 수학적 교구로 볼 수 있다. 2015 개정 교육과정 수학교과에서 다루고 있는 ‘위치적 기수법’과 ‘자릿값’ 체계의 원리를 초등학교 저학년 시기에 이해하는 주된 목적은 오늘날 우리가 사용하고 있는 인도-아라비아 수 체계의 핵심 개념을 익히는데 있어 기초적인 개념이기 때문이다. 더 나아가 이러한 원리 이해를 통해 학생들은 ‘수 비교하기’와 ‘큰 수 읽기 부분’에 있어서도 주판을 활용하여 지도할 수 있음에 대해서도 살펴보았다.

영문 초록

This study examined the aspects of the abacus which can be used to increase the effectiveness of mathematics teaching-learning methods in the future. The role and function of the abacus in mathematics education were examined, and the theoretical basis was justified through a review of the history of the abacus and related literature. In addition, prior research has shown that the abacus is a mathematics learning tool that has been used for the longest time, alongside the development of the numerical and arithmetic field . It is a tool that can fulfill the original function of the parish , and improve learning efficiency and educational effect; thus, it can be viewed as a parish. The main purpose of understanding the principles of the “ positional notation” and “place value” system in the 2015 revised curriculum for mathematics in the lower grades of elementary school is to learn the core concepts of the Indo-Arabic number system that we use today. This is because it is a typical concept. Furthermore, it was also found that, through the understanding of these principles, teachers can use the abacus to teach “comparing numbers” and “reading large numbers.” Since this understanding is essential in order to meaningfully learn and use addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division algorithms, therefore, the abacus can be effectively used as a mathematical teaching tool in the future.
