고등교육에서 지속가능발전교육의 효과

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 한국의 대학생들을 대상으로 지속가능발전교육에 대한 인식과 효과를 확인하는 것이다. 본 연구를 통해 우리나라 고등교육 지속가능발전교육의 방향성을 제시를 위한 정보를 제공할 수 있다. ‘지속가능발전의 이해’를 주제로 한 교양 교과목을 수강하고 있는 대학생 55명과 고등교육 차원에서 지속가능발전교육에 참여한 적이 없는 대학생 50명을 대상으로 하여 조사를 실시하였다. 지속가능발전교육 참여 여부에 따라 지속가능발전 인식과 세계시민의식 척도에서 유의미한 평균차이가 나타났다. 지속가능발전교육 참여 여부에 따라 지속가능발전목표의 ‘첫번째 우선순위’에서 유의미한 인식의 차이가 유의미한 것으로 나타났으며, 대학생들이 인식하는 지속가능발전목표 달성을 위해 자신이 기여 가능한 목표에서 차이가 유의미하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 통하여 고등교육에서 실시하는 지속가능발전교육의 기획과 실제 운영에 도움을 줄 수 있는 기초적인 정보를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to confirm the awareness and effectiveness of sustainable development education for Korean university students. The study is important as it provides basic information to help in the planning and operation of sustainable development education in our country’s higher education. The survey was conducted with 55 college students who taking the subject “Understanding Sustainable Development” and 50 university students who have never participated in sustainable development education related to higher education. There were significant average differences in the perception of sustainable development and the measure of global civic awareness, depending on whether or not to participate in sustainable development education. We found that the differences in perception in the “first priority” of the Sustainable Development Goals were significant, depending on participation in sustainable development education, and that the differences in the goals that university students can contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals were not significant. The results of this study are expected to provide basic information to help in the planning and the actual operation of sustainable development education in higher education.
