국문 초록

4차 산업혁명시대 신기술을 활용한 교육정보화는 교육혁신을 위한 정책 수단으로 활용되고 있다. 특히 코로나19의 전 세계적인 대유행은 인류의 삶과 사회, 경제, 문화 그리고 교육에 대한 구조를 근본적으로 변화시켰다. 이와 같은 패러다임 변화와 사회적 요구 속에서 시작된 온라인 원격수업은 대학교육 현장에서 새로운 대안으로 조금씩 가능성을 보여주고 있다. 하지만 온라인 수업으로 급하게 전환되면서 교육환경, 제도, 인프라 등에 많은 문제점과 구성원들의 지식 및 경험부족 등으로 많은 혼란을 겪고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 실시간, 비실시간 원격수업으로 진행된 온라인 원격수업에 대한 운영결과 및 만족도를 분석하여 대학의 원격수업 운영방안과 개선방안을 도출하고자 한다. 이를 위해 온라인 원격수업에 대한 문헌을 검토하고 온라인 원격수업의 특징을 고려하여 실시간 원격수업과 비실시간 원격수업으로 운영된 교과목을 대상으로 운영에 따른 결과를 분석하고 수강생을 대상으로 인식조사를 실시하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 실시간, 비실시간 원격수업 운영적인 측면에서 원격수업을 위한 학습 플랫폼과 수업 특성을 고려하는 것이 중요하다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 실시간, 비실시간 원격수업에 대한 만족도 조사결과 평균 4.55, 4.22로 나타났다. 세부적으로는 ‘해당분야의 개념과 원리에 대한 이해’, ‘학생 소통, 참여 장려를 위한 다양한 방법 활용’, ‘수업자료에 대한 충실도’가 중요하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로, 개방형 질문에 대한 응답에서 토의/토론, 상호작용, 피드백, 강의자료 등이 중요하다는 내용을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 실시간, 비실시간 원격수업 운영적인 측면에서 원격수업을 위한 학습 플랫폼과 수업 특성을 고려하여 수업이 진행되어야 한다. 그리고 원격수업은 대면수업과 비교 시 동일한 장소에서 교육이 이뤄지는 것이 아니기 때문에 교수-학생 간 상호작용과 피드백 제공이 무엇보다 중요하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 실시간, 비실시간 원격수업과 관련 특성을 고려하고 실질적으로 운영방안을 탐색해보고 향후 원격교육의 질을 높이는데 기여한 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Education information using new technology in the fourth industrial revolution is being used as a policy tool for educational innovation. The COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally changed the structure of human life, societies, economies, cultures, and education. Notably, distance learning started with this paradigm shift and now social needs show promise as a new alternative in the field of higher education. However, with the hasty transition to online learning, many issues related to educational environment, systems, and infrastructure, along with academic faculty members’ lack of knowledge and skills to successfully teach online, have arisen. The purpose of this study is to analyze the operational results and students’ satisfaction toward synchronous or asynchronous distance learning and deduce plans to utilize and improve distance learning in higher education. Therefore, the literature on distance learning has been reviewed and the results of the operation of synchronous and asynchronous distance learning, considering the characteristics of distance learning, have been analyzed. Moreover, a student perception survey has been conducted. The major findings from the study are three-fold. First, it was found that it is important to consider the learning platforms for distance learning and the characteristics of classes, that is whether the distance learning environment is synchronous or asynchronous. Second, the result of the survey of students’ satisfaction with synchronous and asynchronous distance learning showed average ratings of 4.55 and 4.22, respectively. Specifically, it was found that “understanding the concepts and principles of the field,” “utilizing various ways to keep students engaged and encourage student participation,” and “the use of learning materials” are important. Finally, the results of the open-ended questions showed that debate/discussion, interaction, feedback, and course materials are also important. Based on the results of this study, learning platforms for distance learning and the characteristics of classes, that is whether the distance learning environment is synchronous or asynchronous should be considered. Additionally, it was found that interaction and feedback between professors and students are crucial because in distance learning the students and the professor are not in the same place. This study is meaningful in that it considers the characteristics of synchronous and asynchronous distance learning, explores plans to operate practically, and contributes to improving the quality of distance learning in the future.
