대입 인성평가 요소에 대한 통합적 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 인성평가의 다양한 측면에서 고려되는 요소들을 제시하고 이를 범주화하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 첫째, 문헌연구를 통하여 심리학에서 초점을 두는 성격 범주와 윤리학에서 초점을 두는 가치관 범주에 인성평가 요소를 분석하고 재분류하여 학업성취와 관련된 요소와 공익을 위한 윤리와 관련된 요소로 구분하였다. 둘째, 대학별 인성평가 조사를 통해 평가 요소를 파악하여 재분류한 범주에 적용해 보았으며 그 결과 대학의 인성평가는 일반적으로 성격 기반인 학업성취 관련 범주에 무게를 두고 있었다. 특히 학업성취와 관련성이 높은 성실성 요소에 주로 집중되어 있고 고려되지 않는 요소도 다수이며 평가가 되고 있는 요소 내에서도 하위 요소가 다양하게 사용되지 않음을 확인할 수 있었다. 가치관 기반인 공익을 위한 윤리적 인성 범주는 배려와 시민의식 요소에 집중되었으며 공정성 및 자아존중과 타인존중 관련 요소는 고려되지 않고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 셋째, 가치관 기반인 공익을 위한 윤리적 인성 요소의 중요성을 강조할 필요가 있으며 대학마다 어떠한 범주와 요소에 무게를 두어야 할지에 관한 논의가 필요하다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to present the factors that are considered in character evaluation from various perspectives and to categorize them. First, through literature review, character evaluation factors were analyzed and reclassified into categories related to aspects of personality from the field of psychology and to values from the field of ethics. Additionally, the factors were categorized based on whether they have more influence on academic achievement versus those that indicate concern for the common good and ethical behavior. Secondly, this study reviewed character evaluation factors common to domestic universities through a review of a sample of domestic universities admissions program reports. By categorizing them according to the reclassified domains and subcategories, it was observed that the categories in the personality based and academic achievement related domain were heavily favored, particularly the category of conscientiousness which is already known to have a high correlation to academic achievement. Also, it could be observed that there were categories that were hardly covered, and categories where the variety of sub-categories were not used comprehensively. In the values-based domain which relates to concern for the common good and ethical behavior, the categories of caring for others and that of citizenship were used the most, while fairness and respect for self and others were not used at all. Lastly, it shows that overall, the domain of concern for the common good and ethical behavior needs to be emphasized more than it currently is, and that each university may need to re-evaluate which categories and elements of character they wish to place emphasis on.
