한나 아렌트의 교육관에서 삶의 공간으로서의 학교에 대한 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 아렌트의 교육관에서 학교의 공간적 성격에 대한 이해를 도모하는 데 있다. 정치의 존재 이유를 자유에서 찾는 아렌트는, 교육에 있어서는 보수주의적 관점을 취했기 때문에 많은 오해를 받았다. 아렌트에게 학교는 전(前, pre)-정치적 공간이다. 그리고 학생들은 정치적 영역의 역할과 책임을 이행해야 하는 시민이 아니라, 미성년자이다. 따라서 학생들은 어른들의 보호 하에 성장해야 하며, 같은 이유로 학교에서는 교육적 권위가 존중받아야 한다. 아렌트의 이러한 보수적 교육관에 대한 이해를 돕기 위해 본 연구자는 인간 정신의 변화를 낙타-사자-어린아이의 세 단계로 논하는 니체의 교육관과의 유비를 제안하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study is focused on School as the Space of Life in the Hannah Arendt’s view of Education. Arendt, who sought reason for existence of politics in freedom, took conservative view in education, which led a lot of misunderstanding. The criticism of About progressive education of America at that time, she focused on the fact that students are left under the pressure of peer groups as the authority of teachers is lost. Her position on integrated education was that schools were exposed to political conflicts as the responsibility of adults in political area was shifted to students. For Arendt, school is a prepolitical space. And students are minors rather than citizens who implement roles and responsibility in the political area. Therefore, students should grow up under the protection of adults, and for this reason, the educational authority in school should be respected. In order to promote to understand her conservative educational view, I intend to suggest the analogy that Nietzsche s camel-lion-child.
