중등교사의 유튜브 활용 교육 활동 경험 및 특징에 관한 연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 유튜브 플랫폼 및 콘텐츠를 활용한 중등교사의 교육 활동 경험을 분석하여 특징을 도출함에 목적이 있다. 방법 이를 위하여 중등교사 19명의 경험 사례를 온라인 플랫폼을 통하여 수집하였고, 수집된 질적 자료는 주제 분석 기법의 절차와 방법으로 분석하였다. 그 결과, 중등교사의 유튜브 활용 교육 활동 경험에서 확인할 수 있는 유튜브 매체의 속성과 함께 교육 활동 내용, 교육적 전략을 도출하였고, 이를 정리하여 제시하였다. 결과 연구 결과는 ‘중등교사의 유튜브 활용 교육 활동에 포함된 매체의 속성’, ‘교육 활동 내용’, ‘교육적 전략’으로 구분된다. 중등교사의 유튜브 활용 교육 활동에 포함된 매체의 속성에는 상위범주 1개, 주제 2개, 하위범주 7개가 확인⋅도출되었다. 주제는 긍정적 측면과 부정적 측면으로 도출되었고, 긍정적 측면에서는 시의성, 최신성, 범위성, 맞춤화, 효율성이 부정적 측면에서는 부정확성, 의존성 등이 하위 요소로 제시되었다. 중등교사의 유튜브 활용 교육 활동의 내용에 대해서는 상위범주 2개, 주제 4개, 하위범주 9개가 도출되었다. 상위범주로는 수업과 학습이, 주제로는 교수설계 및 교수 전략, 교과 학습, 직무 역량, 개별 학습이 도출되었고 각각의 하위 요소도 제시되었다. 마지막으로 중등교사의 유튜브 활용 교육 전략은 주제 3개, 하위범주 4개가 확인되었으며, 구체적으로 비판적 검증 및 선별적 활용, 보조적 역할, 맞춤형 아카이빙이라는 주제들이 포함되었다. 결론 본 연구는 중등교사의 유튜브 활용 교육 활동을 분석하여 매체의 속성과 교육 활동 내용, 교육적 활용 전략을 심도 있게 살펴보았다. 그리고 에듀테크가 교사를 지원할 수 있는 전략으로 기능할 필요성에 대해 제안하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aims to analyze the educational experiences of secondary school teachers utilizing YouTube as an instructional medium, identifying key characteristics of their pedagogical practices. Methods The experiences of 19 secondary school teachers were collected through an online platform. The qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis procedures. The study examined the characteristics of YouTube as a medium in teachers' educational practices, as well as the content and instructional strategies they employed. These findings were systematically categorized and presented. Results The findings were categorized into three main areas: (1) the media attributes embedded in secondary school teachers' educational activities using YouTube, (2) the content of educational activities, and (3) the instructional strategies necessary for teachers to effectively utilize YouTube. Regarding media attributes, one overarching category was identified, consisting of two themes and seven subcategories. The themes reflected both positive and negative aspects, while the subcategories included timeliness, up-to-dateness, scope, customization, efficiency, inaccuracy, and dependency. The content-related characteristics of educational activities comprised two overarching categories—teaching and learning—further divided into four themes and nine subcategories. The themes included instructional design and strategies, subject learning, professional competencies, and individual learning, each accompanied by corresponding sub-elements. Lastly, the strategies for secondary school teachers' educational use of YouTube were categorized into three themes and four subcategories. Specifically, the identified themes included critical evaluation and selective use, the auxiliary role of YouTube, and customized archiving. Conclusions This study provides an in-depth analysis of the media attributes, content, and instructional strategies involved in secondary school teachers' educational use of YouTube. It highlights the role of EduTech as a supportive tool in teachers' instructional practices and underscores the need for a balanced, critical approach to integrating YouTube into education.
