성인 학습자들의 학습 참여동기 및 장애요인이 학업만족도와 대학생활 적응에 미치는 영향: 평생교육체제 지원사업(LiFE2.0) 참여 대학을 중심으로

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 평생교육단과대학 성인 학습자의 학습 참여동기와 장애요인을 알아보고 이러한 요인들이 학업만족도와 대학생활 적응에 유의한 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 방법 이를 위해 대학의 평생교육체제 지원사업(일명, LiFE2.0사업)에 참여하고 있는 강원-대경권 소재 3개 일반대학의 성인 학습자 257명을 대상으로 각각 학습 참여동기, 장애요인, 학업만족도, 대학생활 적응에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 수집한 자료를 연구문제에 따라 빈도분석, 요인분석, 경로분석을 실시하였다. 결과 첫째, 본 연구에 참여한 성인 학습자의 학습 참여동기는 이들의 학업만족도와 대학생활 적응에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 둘째, 본 연구에 참여한 성인 학습자의 학습 장애요인은 학업만족도와 대학생활 적응에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 학습 장애요인과 대학생활 적응 간 관계에서 학업만족도의 매개효과가 나타났다. 즉, 장애요인은 학업만족도에, 학업만족도는 대학생활 적응에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 성인 학습자의 학습 장애요인은 학업만족도와 대학생활 적응에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 이는 향후 대학에서 평생교육을 활성화하기 위해 교육 환경을 개선하고 장애요인을 해소하는 것이 필수적임을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aims to investigate the learning participation motivations and barriers faced by adult learners enrolled in lifelong education colleges, and to examine whether these factors significantly influence their academic satisfaction and adjustment to university life. Methods To achieve this, a survey was conducted among 257 adult learners from three colleges in the Kangwon- Gyeongbuk regions who are participating in the Lifelong Education at Universities for the Future of Education(also known as LiFE 2.0). The survey examined learning participation motivation, barriers, academic satisfaction, and university life adjustment. The collected data were analyzed using frequency analysis, factor analysis, and path analysis in accordance with the research questions. Results First, the learning participation motivations of adult learners did not have a statistically significant effect on their academic satisfaction or adjustment to university life. Second, the learning barriers experienced by adult learners had a statistically significant impact on both their academic satisfaction and university life adjustment. Third, academic satisfaction was found to mediate the relationship between learning barriers and university life adjustment. Put differently, learning barriers significantly influenced academic satisfaction, and academic satisfaction significantly influenced university life adjustment. Conclusions The learning barriers faced by adult learners in the lifelong education colleges were found to significantly affect their academic satisfaction and adjustment to university life. This suggests that removing barriers through improvements in the overall educational environment for adult learners is a crucial issue for promoting lifelong education in universities in the future.
