과학영재 연구 체험 프로그램 효과성 분석: 수혜학생 면담사례를 중심으로

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 과학영재를 대상으로 진행 되는 연구체험 프로그램 중 하나인 과학영재첨단연구실 체험캠프(pre-URP)의 프로그램 참여 효과를 분석하고자 하였다. 방법 이를 위하여 pre-URP 프로그램을 수혜하고, A 과학기술특성화대학에 진학한 학생 9명을 대상으로 집단 면담 진행하였다. 면담 내용을 전사 하고, 전사 내용을 Corbin & Strauss(2015)의 개방 코딩(Open Coding) 작업을 통해 면담 내용을 범주화하고자 하였다. 결과 과학영재첨단연구실 체험캠프 프로그램의 효과는 진로 탐색(적성확인)과 역량 개발이라는 두 가지 주요 범주로 효과를 도출 되었으며, 주요내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 참여 학생들은 pre-URP 프로그램을 통해 연구 과정의 체험을 바탕으로 진로 탐색에 긍정적인 영향을 받았다. 특히, 연구 주제를 경험하며 자신의 선호도를 파악하고, 연구 분야 선택에 대한 근거를 마련할 수 있었다. 둘째, 프로그램은 학생들의 연구 역량 강화를 돕는 데 효과적이었다. 학생들은 연구 방법론 습득, 고난도 연구 장비 활용, 데이터 분석 능력 향상 등의 기회를 통해 연구자로서의 태도와 자질을 함양할 수 있었다. 결론 과학영재 연구 체험프로그램은 과학영재 학생들에게 진로 탐색과 연구 역량 강화를 위한 유의미한 경험을 제공하였으며, 이를 통해 과학기술인으로서의 성장 가능성을 높이는 데 기여하였다. 연구는 향후 프로그램 확장 및 운영 개선을 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aimed to analyze the effects of the Advanced Research Laboratory Experience Camp for Gifted Science Students (pre-URP), one of the research experience programs designed for gifted science students. Methods To achieve this, a focus group interview was conducted with nine students who had participated in the pre-URP program and subsequently enrolled in University A, a science and technology-focused institution. The interview transcripts were then transcribed, and the transcribed data were categorized through an open coding process following the methodology of Corbin & Strauss (2015). Results The effects of the pre-URP program were categorized into two main areas: career exploration (aptitude identification) and skill development. First, the participating students reported positive impacts on career exploration through the experience of research processes. They were able to identify their preferences and establish a basis for selecting research fields. Second, the program effectively supported the enhancement of students' research skills. Participants acquired research methodologies, gained experience with advanced research equipment, and improved data analysis abilities, fostering the attitudes and competencies required of researchers. Conclusions The research experience program for gifted science students provided meaningful opportunities for career exploration and research competency development. It contributed to the potential growth of participants as future science and technology professionals. This study serves as foundational data for the future expansion and improvement of such programs.
