‘웅덩이’와 소나무 어린이집 영유아들의 얽힌 놀이되기

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 유아들과 웅덩이에서의 놀이경험을 Deleuze의 리좀철학과 Barad의 행위주체성 관점으로 살펴보고, 놀이가 지닌가치와 놀이의 양상이 어떻게 발현되는지 분석하여, 영유아 놀이의 대안적 접근을 위한 시사점을 제공하고자 한다. 방법 G시에 위치한 소나무어린이집 1세~5세 유아 46명을 대상으로 2023년 6월부터 8월까지 2개월간 참여관찰을 하였으며 또한, 유아 놀이에서 나타난 경험을 사진, 영상, 놀이기록 흔적과 마주치며 ‘빛나는’ 순간(MacLure, 2013)을 포착하는 후기질절연구방법을 따랐다. 수집된 자료는 드러난 사건을 다시 의미 흐름과 연결 짓는 과정을 순환 반복하며 유아들과 웅덩이의 얽힘의 양상은어떤 의미인지 분석하였다. 결과 웅덩이와 영유아들의 얽힌 양상 결과는 웅덩이에 내재 된 기호와 마주치기, 웅덩이와 환경의 물질과 얽히기, 연령과 공간을 연결하는 리좀 웅덩이 생성하기, 시간과 공간을 넘나드는 그리고...그리고...웅덩이 생성하기로 나타났다. 결론 유아들은 우연히 생성된 웅덩이에서의 놀이를 통해 물질과 마주침을 감각적으로 느끼며 새로운 관계를 형성한다. 역동적이고 가변적인 웅덩이의 특성은 강도의 흐름에 따라 유아와의 ‘얽힌 내부작용’은 새로움으로 이어져 창조적인 놀이가 된다. 또한, 웅덩이와 유아와의 얽힘은 시간과 공간을 횡단적이고 수직적으로 이동시켜 계속 만나게 되는 행위성을 띠는데 이는 유아와 물질간의 얽힌 행위주체성에 주목하여 유아교사가 놀이지원을 해야함을 시사한다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study examines the play experiences of young children in puddles through the perspectives of Deleuze's philosophy of rhizome and Barad's notion of agency. By analyzing the value inherent in play and how various aspects of play manifest, it aims to provide insights for alternative approaches to early childhood play. Methods From June to August 2023, a two-month participant observation was conducted on 46 children aged 1 to 5 at Pine Tree Nursery located in G City. Additionally, a post-qualitative research method was employed to capture ‘glow’ moments (MacLure, 2013) by encountering the experiences revealed in children's play through photographs, videos, and traces of play records. The collected data underwent a recursive process of reinterpreting the emerged events, connecting them with the flow of meaning, and analyzing the implications of the entanglement between the children and the puddles. Results The entangled play patterns between puddles and young children revealed several outcomes: encountering the inherent signs within the puddles, entangling with the materiality of the puddles and their environment, generating rhizomatic puddles that connect age and space, and creating ‘and... and... puddles’ by transcending time and space. Conclusions Through play in the spontaneously formed puddles, young children sensually encounter materiality and form new relationships. The dynamic and variable nature of the puddles leads to novel intra-actions with the children, resulting in creative play. Furthermore, the entanglement between the puddles and the children traverses time and space horizontally and vertically, fostering ongoing encounters. This highlights the agency embedded in the entangled relationship between young children and materials, suggesting the importance for early childhood educators to provide support for play.
