대학생의 외로움이 대학생활적응에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

목적 본 연구에서는 대학생들이 느끼는 외로움이 대학생활적응에 미치는 영향력을 확인하고, 이들 관계에서 자기통제와 유튜브과의존의 이중매개효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 방법 이를 위하여 전국의 1~4학년에 재학중인 대학생 498명을 대상으로 한국판UCLA외로움척도, 자기통제척도, 유튜브과의존척도, 대학생활적응척도를 사용하여 설문을 실시하였다. 이 중 불성실한 자료를 제외한 468명의 자료를 대상으로 SPSS 21.0을 사용하여 신뢰도 및 기술통계, Pearson상관 분석을 하였고, SPSS Process Macro Model 6를 이용해 이중매개효과를 산출하였다. 결과 첫째, 외로움과 대학생활적응, 자기통제, 유튜브과의존은 모두 유의미한 상관관계를 보였다. 둘째, 대학생의 외로움과 대학생활적응의 관계에서 자기통제와 유튜브과의존은 각각 개별매개효과가 있었고, 외로움이 자기통제와 유튜브과의존을 통해 대학생활적응에 영향을 미치는 이중매개효과가 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 매개변수를 투입한 후에도 외로움과 대학생활적응의 직접효과가유의하였으므로 부분매개효과가 있음 또한 확인하였다. 결론 이를 통해, 대학생이 외로움이라는 정서를 느낄 때 자신이 처한 어려움이나 자신의 주변상황을 잘 통제할 수 없을 것으로 지각하게 되어 이것을 회피하기 위한 방편으로 유튜브를 과의존적으로 사용하게 되고, 결국 대학생활적응에 어려움을 갖게 된다는 것을검증하였다. 본 연구는 대학생들의 행복하고 적응적인 대학생활을 위해 이들의 친밀한 대인관계와 유대감 형성을 위한 프로그램지원 및 자기통제력을 높여줄 수 있는 개입과, 유튜브를 자신의 필요에 따라 조절하며 사용할 수 있도록 교육 및 프로그램을 개발, 활용하도록 지원하는 정책이 마련되어야 함을 제안한 데에 그 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purposes of this study were to determine the influence of loneliness on college students' adaptation to examine the serial mediating effects of self-regulation and YouTube over-dependence. Methods A survey was conducted on 498 college students in grades 1 to 4 nationwide using the Korean version of the UCLA Loneliness Scale, Self-Control Scale, YouTube Over-Dependence Scale, and Student Adaptation to College Scale. Reliability, descriptive statistics, and Pearson correlation analysis were performed on 468 data after excluding non-responding data using SPSS 21.0, and a serial mediating effect was calculated using SPSS Process Macro Model 6. Results First, loneliness and adaptation to college, self-control, and YouTube dependence were all significantly related. Second, in the relationship between loneliness and college adaptation, self-control and YouTube over-dependence had individual mediating effect, respectively, and the serial mediating effect of loneliness affecting college adaptation through self-control and YouTube over-dependence was also found to be significant. Even after adding mediators, the direct effects of loneliness and college adaptation were significant, confirming the existence of a partial mediating effect. Conclusions It was concluded that when college students feel lonely;they perceive that they are not in control of their difficulties or their surroundings;which leads to their overdependent use of YouTube as a way to avoid this;and eventually have difficulty adapting to college life. Therefore;this study proposed an intervention that can increase their self-control and support programs for intimate interpersonal relationships and bonds for college students to live happily and adaptively in college. Additionally;the education and programs should be developed and provided for them to control use of YouTube according to their own needs.
