코로나19를 살아내는 유아의 삶에 관한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 코로나19 시대를 살아내는 유아의 삶을 들여다보고 유아가 체험한 현상 속에 담겨진 본질을 보다 심층적으로 기술하고 이해하는데 있다. 방법 이를 위하여 코로나 시기에 어린이집 재원 중인 유아들과 이들의 생각을 지근거리에서 읽어낼 수 있는 교사 2인을 연구참여자로 선정하였다. 교사 2인과의 심층면담 자료, 유아들의 이야기와 그림표상 자료를 수집하여 현상학적 연구방법에 의해 분석하였다. 결과 코로나 상황에서 유아가 체험한 내용과 그 의미를 분석한 결과, 첫째, 체험된 시간으로는 ‘달라진 일상’, ‘낯선 것이 적응되어지는 시간’, ‘예측할 수 없는 상황’이 드러났고, 둘째, 체험된 공간으로는 ‘경계지워진 공간’, ‘마주봄이 아니라 나란히나란히’, ‘어린이집은 하나의 탈출구’로 드러났다. 셋째, 체험된 감각으로는 ‘나의 일부가 된 마스크’, ‘심리적 방역이 필요해’이며, 마지막으로 체험된 관계로는 ‘관계의 단절’, ‘예민해진 부모’, ‘다시 돌아보게 되는 가정의 역할’, ‘새로운 기회’로 드러났다. 결론 본 연구는 코로나19와 같은 재난상황에서 자칫 간과되기 쉬운 유아의 삶을 주목하고 유아의 코로나 19 체험의 본질적인 의미를 심층적으로 탐구하였다는 점에서 연구의 의의를 지닌다. 코로나 19를 통해 드러난 유아의 유능함과 우리사회 돌봄 가치의 현주소에 대해 논의하고, 이를 토대로 코로나19 이후에도 유아 삶의 변화 양상에 주목할 것을 후속연구로 제안하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives The current study was conducted to examine the lives of young children surviving COVID-19 and specify and comprehend the essence conveyed in the phenomena they have experienced. Methods For the purpose, I selected young children who are attending child care centers despite COVID-19 and two teachers who can read their minds. I collected resources through in-depth interviews with the teachers and the children s stories and images for a phenomenological analysis. Results As a result of analyzing the experiences of young children in relation to COVID-19 and the significance, I had the following findings: first, lived time can be classified into ‘different daily life’, ‘adaptation to unfamiliar things’, and ‘unpredicted situations’. Second, lived space can be classified into ‘borderless spaces’, ‘side-by-side, not face-to-face’, and ‘child care is an escape exit’. Third, lived body is ‘mask is a part of me now’ and ‘I need psychological quarantine.’ Last, lived relationship is ‘isolation of relationships’, ‘sensitive parents’, ‘redefinition of role of family’, and ‘new opportunities.’ Conclusions The significance of current study is that it focused on the lives of young children that may easily be overlooked in the pandemic situation and examined the essential meaning of young children s experience with COVID-19 on the in-depth level. I discussed the competence of young children revealed through COVID-19 and the current value of care in the Korean society and suggested further studies on the change of lives of young children after COVID-19.
