형성적 평가도구로서 루부릭 활용이 의대생의 연구기술개발에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

루부릭은 주로 평가를 목적으로 교수자에 의해 활용되지만 학습자에 의해 활용될 경우 형성적 평가도구로서 학습자의 수행을 증진시키는 목적으로도 사용될 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 의대생의 연구기술을 효과적으로 개발하기 위한 방법으로 형성적 평가도구로서 루부릭을 활용하여 그 효과를 살펴보았다. 본 연구에는 한 의과대학 의예과에서 2018년과 2019년 연구프로그램을 수강한 학습자들이 참여하였고 두 집단은 그룹으로 루부릭을 활용하거나(2019 집단) 루부릭의 도움 없이(2018 집단) 10주간 실제적 연구프로젝트를 진행하고 연구보고서를 제출하였다. 또한, 루부릭을 활용한 2019년 집단은 수업 후 루부릭 활용에 대한 설문에 참여하였다. 연구결과에 의하면 2019년 집단의 연구보고서가 2018년 집단의 연구보고서보다 유의하게 높은 점수를 획득한 것으로 드러났다. 또한, 학습자들은 루부릭 사전제시가 연구 진행과 연구기술개발에 미치는 효과를 긍정적으로 인식하고 있었으며 루부릭 사전제시 집단은 연구프로젝트 후에 9개의 연구기술 모두가 개발되었다고 인식하는 것으로 드러났다. 그리고 연구프로젝트 후 학습자의 의학연구에 대한 관심도 높은 수준으로 증가하였다. 따라서 형성적 평가도구로서의 루부릭 활용은 의대생의 연구기술개발에 효과적인 교수학습방법인 것으로 판단된다. 의대생의 연구기술개발에 대한 교수학습방법에 대한 논의가 거의 없는 실정에서 본 연구의 결과는 의과대학의 연구프로그램을 개발하는데 실증적인 시사점을 제공해 줄 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Rubrics are assessment tools for teachers to assess students’ performance, but when used by students, rubrics can be used for formative assessment where assessment information is used to inform students about their progress and aid their development. This formative use of rubrics can increase students’ performance. Many medical schools have incorporated research programs at the undergraduate level. Conducting research at schools is a learning task but how to effectively train medical students’ research skills has not drawn much attention. Therefore, this study examined the effect of the formative use of rubrics in medical students’ research skill development in an introductory course-based research program. For this purpose, the 2019 group using a rubric for formative assessment was compared with the 2018 group who did not use it while conducting research projects as a group. According to the results, the 2019 group outperformed the 2018 group when their final research papers were assessed in terms of research skill development. The 2019 students also thought the use of rubrics to be beneficial in the process of conducting research, and their perception toward research skill development and research interest significantly increased after the program. In conclusion, the formative use of rubrics is thought to be an effective measure on the development of medical students’ research skills in undergraduate research programs. Considering there is little research on this issue, these results can confer important insights for designing research programs in medical schools.
