초등 경력 교사의 3학년 국어 수업설계서 재구성에 대한 집단 숙의 양상

국문 초록

이 논문은 초등 수업 연구 동아리 교사들이 하나의 국어과 수업설계서 초안을 재구성해가는 과정에서 집단 숙의가 전개되는 양상과 특징을 드러내는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 문화기술적 사례 연구 방법을 따라 집단 숙의의 전 과정을 녹음하였고 (77분) 이를 연구자가 약 6개월에 걸쳐 전사한 텍스트를 주제별 약호화 과정을 통해 분석하였다. 그 결과, 집단 숙의의 내용 측면에서 주요 쟁점은, 도입에서 동기 유발을 위한 듣기 자료인 뉴스의 내용으로 교과서에 나온 기동의 일기를 담는 것과 학급내의 사건을 담는 것 사이의 갈등, 전개에서 원인과 결과가 드러나게 말하는 방법 알기 활동의 설명 제공과 미제공 사이의 갈등, 전개에서 원인-결과의 연속적 이어가기 활동의 유지와 생략 사이의 갈등임이 드러났다. 집단 숙의의 절차 측면은 숙의자들이 보고, 탐색 질문과 답변, 제안, 동조, 예상, 브레인스토밍, 주장, 부연, 고쳐말하기, 인정, 해석, 문제, 설명, 의지 등의 숙의적 공헌들을 통해 이런 쟁점들을 확인하고, 확인된 쟁점을 심의한 후 합의에 이르는 과정으로 나타났다. 또한 이러한 과정은 숙의자들 사이의 이해의 차이와 약한 갈등, 높은 친밀도에 따른 원만한 숙의, 학생을 중시하면서 학생의 경험과의 관련성 및 흥미 유발 가능성, 학생의 이해 수준, 학생의 학습 부담 경감을 이유로 한 의사 결정, 정치적 측면과 논리적 측면이 결합된 숙의로 특징지어졌다.

영문 초록

This ethnographic case study investigated characteristics of the curricular deliberation of experienced elementary teachers in reconstructing a Korean language lesson plan Speaking the Cause and Effect of an Experience for third graders in the 2009 national curriculum. Data were gathered through audio-taping. The author transcribed the audio-taped data for six months and analyzed the data through the method of thematic analysis. Three issues were conflicts between: a) Gidong s story in the textbook versus a classmate s story as the content of motivating news material in the introductory phase; b) providing versus not providing an explanation on how to speak the cause and effect of an experience in the intervening phase; and c) keeping versus skipping the cyclical activity of speaking cause-effect in the intervening phase. The teachers followed the procedure of identifying the issues through deliberative contributions of reporting, exploratory questioning, answering, proposing, agreeing, anticipating, brainstorming, arguing, paraphrasing, admitting, interpreting, problemetizing, explaining, and volition; considering the relative weights of contributions; and coming to a choice and conclusion. The deliberation was characterized as; one in which teachers had differences in opinions and moderate conflicts, a peaceful one based upon high friendship; one with more emphasis upon students and teachers rather than subject matter and milieu; one in which decision making was based upon relevance to students experience, possibility of inducing students interests, the level of students understanding, and reduction of students learning burden; and one with both political and rational aspects. The study suggested implications for teachers roles in reconstructing textbooks and curriculum, and teachers professional development based on building teachers professional learning communities.
