초등 Upcycling 교육프로그램이 창의적 문제해결력에 미치는 영향 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 4R(Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Upcycle)을 적용한 초등 Upcycling 교육프로그램을 개발하고, 5주 동안 프로그램에 참여한 3, 4, 5, 6학년 초등학생 565명을 대상으로 교육프로그램을 적용하여 창의적 문제해결력에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 프로그램은 Upcycling을 중심으로 하는 자원순환교육으로 STEAM 교육의 구성 요소 및 수업 설계 준거를 기반으로 삼아 교과 및 창체 수업시간에 진행할 수 있도록 설계하였다. 3,4,5학년 6차시, 6학년 10차시 총 28차시의 수업으로 주제는 ‘음식물쓰레기, 포장재, 종이, PET병’이고, 각 학년별로 참여한 학생들을 대상으로 사전·사후 검사결과를 통계 처리하여 분석하였다. 이에 대한 연구결과로 첫째, 초등 Upcycling교육프로그램은 학생들의 창의적 문제해결력 향상에 유의미한 효과가 있었다. 둘째, 창의적 문제해결력의 영역 중 자기 확신 및 독립성과 확산적 사고에 긍정적인 영향이 있었다. 가장 큰 변화는 수업시간에 갖게 된 호기심을 적극적인 질문을 통해 해결하게 되었다는 자신감의 향상이었다. 셋째, 비판적·논리적 사고와 동기적 요소도 사후 평균점수는 향상되었으나 유의미하지는 않았다. 그러나 친구들과 공유한 정보를 바탕으로 혼자서 결론을 이끌어낼 수 있게 되었다거나 어렵고 힘든 것도 쉽게 포기하지 않게 되었다는 자기 확신과 관련된 사고 및 동기적 요소가 크게 향상되어 프로그램이 장기화되었다면 유의미한 변화를 이끌어낼 수 있었을 것이다. 마지막으로 Upcycling 프로그램은 환경문제에 관심을 가질 수 있는 기회를 제공하였다. 본 연구의 결과, 초등 자원순환 교육프로그램에서 STEAM 교육방법을 적용하는 것은 의미가 있으며, 초등 자원순환 교육프로그램을 Upcycling을 중심으로 하였을때 학생들의 창의적 문제해결력을 기를 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The study aims to develop Upcycling Education Program for elementary school children through application of 4R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Upcycle) and apply the education program to 565 elementary school children so that effects on creative problem-solving ability can be explained. The program is upcycling-oriented resource circulation education and was designed to provide the curriculum and creative experience lessons based on components of STEAM education and standard for design of lessons. Statistics on pre-test results and post-test results on participants by grade were collected for the purpose of analyses. As a result of the study, the followings were found out. First, Elementary Upcycling Education Program had significant effects on improvement of creative problem-solving ability. Second, it had positive effects on self-belief, independence and divergent thinking within creative problem-solving domain. The greatest change was improved confidence in resolution through proactive questions in classes. Third, critical and logical thoughts and motivational factors were improved as well in terms of after-the-fact average point, but it was not significant. However, if a conclusion was personally drawn based on information shared by friends or if thoughts related to self-belief that something difficult was not easily given up and motivational factors were drastically improved to prolong the program, significant changes would have materialized. Lastly, the upcycling program provided an opportunity to develop interest in environmental problems. As a result of the study, it turned out to be meaningful to apply STEAM educational method to Elementary Resource Recycling Education Program, and students were able to develop creative problem-solving capability if an emphasis is placed on upcycling with regard to Elementary Resource Recycling Education Program.
