여성농악의 아우라 형성과 공연지식의 학습

국문 초록

여성농악(Yeoseong-nongak)은 전국을 순회하며 공연을 했던 대중연예적인 성격의 농악이었다. 이것은 마을이나 지역이라는 장소적인 맥락에서 벗어난 농악이었기 때문에 그 장소의 역사나 생태적 특징에서 비롯된, 장소가 부여하는 아우라(aura)에 의지할 수가 없었다. 그러므로 여성농악에서는 공연자를 중심으로 공연 자체의 심미적인 아우라를 계발하는 방향을 취함으로써 공연의 예술적 가치를 높였다. 공연예술은 공연자의 신체를 매개로 형상화되므로, 공연의 아우라는 공연자의 아우라와 분리될 수 없다. 따라서 여성농악이 작품의 아우라를 계발하는 방식은 공연자의 공연지식 학습과 직접적인 연관이 있다. 여성농악의 공연지식 학습은 대략 외적-신체적 훈련과 내적-심리적 훈련으로나눌 수 있다. 이와 같은 심신의 훈련을 통하여 여성농악 공연자들은 공연능력을 키우고, 실제공연에서 그 능력을 발휘한다. 또한 공연자들은 공연상황에 몰입함으로써 강력한 아우라를 발산하고, 관객들은 그 아우라를 지각하면서 심미적인 체험을 하게 된다. 반복되는 훈련과 공연으로 공연자들은 예술가로서의 아비투스(habitus)를 갖게 되었다. 여성농악 공연자들은 특히 전라도 지역의 민속공연예술을 기반으로 하는 문화적 취향을 가지고 있으며, 모든 일상생활이 공연을 향해 수렴되는 삶을 살았다. 또한 능력에 대한 보상에 민감하면서동시에 공연을 위해서는 어떤 고통도 감내하는 성향적인 특징을 보였다.

영문 초록

Yeoseong-nongak was a form of nongak performed around the country with popular entertainment characteristics. As this style of nongak lay outside of the contexts of locations such as villages or regions, it could not rely on the auras granted by its locations or by the history or ecological characteristics of those locations. Therefore, Yeoseong-nongak heightened the artistic value of performances by developing the aesthetic aura of the performances themselves with a focus on the performers. Performance art is shaped by the physical bodies of performers as its medium and thus the aura of performances cannot be separated from the aura of performers. Therefore, the methods through which Yeoseong-nongak develops the aura of work is directly related to the performance knowledge learning of performers. The performance knowledge learning of Yeoseong-nongak can roughly be divided into external-physical training and internal-psychological training. Through such physical and mental training, performers of Yeoseong-nongak develop their performance skills and display these abilities in actual performances. Also, performers emit strong auras by immersing themselves in performance situations and audience members have aesthetic experiences as they perceive that aura. Through repetitive training and performances, performers came to have habitus as artists. Yeoseong-nongak performers particularly have cultural tastes based on the folk performance arts of the Jullado area and their daily lives were wholly lived converged towards performances. Also, they displayed propensity characteristics that were sensitive to rewards given for abilities and that simultaneously endured any type of pain for performances.
