국문 초록

음악은 인류의 공통적 언어로 불리며 삶의 다양한 영역에서 유용되고 있다. 본 연구는 개인의생물, 사회적 요인 중 인종(국적)이 음악의 통증완화 효과에 미치는 영향에 통계적 차이가 존재하는지 확인한 탐색적 연구이다. 한국학생과 중국인 유학생을 대상으로 3×3 교차시험 설계를 통해실험을 수행하였다. 음악, 뉴스, 대조처리를 순서를 달리하며 3처리를 모두 경험할 때 피험자는각 처리마다 참을수 없는 통증발생 시점(PT), 통증강도(PI), 통증으로인한 불편감(PU)을 반응변수로 응답하였다. 분석결과 한국인과 중국인 모두 음악조건이 대조조건 보다 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 한국인은 음악조건이 뉴스조건보 다 유의한 차이가 확인되었으나 중국 유학생은 음악조건과 뉴스조건 사이의 차이를 확인할 수 없었다. 본 연구는 인종(국적)차이에도 음악은 통증완화에효과적인 수단이 될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

Music is considered the common language of humankind and has been playing a positive role in various aspects of human life. This study aimed to determine whether nationality, among individuals’ biological and social factors, causes significant statistical differences in the effect of music in relieving pain. A randomised trial was conducted among Korean and Chinese students using a 3×3 crossover design with music, news, and no-sound conditions. Pain responses such as the time point of unbearable pain (PT), pain intensity (PI), and discomfort due to pain (PU) were observed through the cold pressure task (CPT). The result of the analysis showed that there was a significant difference in music conditions for Korean and Chinese students as compared to the control conditions. While Korean students revealed a significant difference between the music condition and the news condition, the Chinese students showed negligible difference. This study confirmed that music can be an effective means for pain relief regardless of nationality.
