초등학생과 중학생의 학업탄력성을 예측하는 요인

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 초등학교 4학년과 중학교 1학년이 지각한 부모의 양육태도, 교사관계, 그릿, 학업열의와 학업탄력성의 관계를 살펴보았다. 또한, 그릿과 학업열의가 부모의 양육태도, 교사관계와 학업탄력성의 관계를 어떻게 매개하는지 확인하고, 이러한 관계가 초등학생과 중학생 집단에서 어떠한 차이를 보이는지 살펴보았다. 연구를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원의 한국아동청소년패널조사 2018의 1차년도 조사자료 중 연구의 목적에 맞게 추출한 1,235명의 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과 부모의 양육태도, 교사관계, 그릿은 학업탄력성에 직접효과가 나타나지 않았던 반면 학업열의는 학업탄력성에 정적으로 유의한 예측력을 보였다. 또한, 양육태도, 교사관계에서 학업탄력성에 이르는 경로는 그릿과 학업열의를 이중매개할 때 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 이는 학생이 양육태도와 교사관계를 긍정적으로 인식할수록, 부정적 양육태도를 낮게 인식할수록 그릿과 학업열의가 높아짐으로써 학업탄력성도 높아질 수 있음을 의미한다. 마지막으로 초등학생과 중학생의 집단 간 차이는 일부 간접 경로에서만 확인되었고, 그릿과 학업열의의 이중매개를 포함한 경로에서는 초등학생과 중학생의 차이가 없었다. 이는 그릿과 학업열의가 두 집단 모두에서 중요한 역할을 하고 있음을 의미한다.

영문 초록

This study examined the mediating effect of grit and academic engagement between parent and teacher variables and academic resilience. This study also seeks the difference of a structural relationship among variables in terms of the school-level (i.e. elementary and middle school). A total of 1,235 students were selected and analyzed from 4th graders (elementary school students) and 7th graders (middle school students) in the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) 2018. As a result of the study, parenting attitude, teacher-student relations, and grit had no direct effect on academic resilience, while academic engagement had a direct positive effect on academic resilience. In addition, the paths from parenting attitude and teacher-student relations to academic resilience were significant mediated by grit and academic engagement. Finally, group differences between elementary and middle school students were found in a few indirect paths, and there was no difference in terms of mediational effects between elementary and middle school students. This means that grit and academic engagement play an important role in both groups. Implications for educational policies that can improve academic resilience are discussed.
