지속가능발전 관점에 기초한 동식물 돌봄에서 나타난 유아교사의 변화

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 어린이집 만 5세 학급에서 이루어진 지속가능발전 관점에 기초한 동식물 돌봄에서 나타난 유아 교사의 변화를 살펴보았다. 방법 만 5세 유아 15명과 담임교사 1명을 본 연구의 연구참여자로 선정하여 면담 및 참여 관찰, 교사의 반성적 저널을 토대로 자료를 수집한 후 질적 자료 분석을 하였다. 결과 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 실행 전 유아교사는 지속가능발전교육을 막연하고 어려운 것으로 인식하였으나, 시간이 흐르면서 지속가능발전 개념에 대한 인식을 변화시키기 시작하였다. 둘째, 교사는 유아들과 함께 교실 속에서 작은 실천에 관심을 두며, 몰입하고, 도전하였다. 이 과정에서 반성적 사고의 지평을 넓혀 가면서 자연에 귀 기울이고, 불편한 것에 익숙해 가면서 삶에 대한 가치관과 태도 및 생활방식의 변화를 경험하였다. 셋째, 교사는 유아의 지속가능발전 실천을 위해 든든한 지원자가 되었고 유아의 주체적이고 능동적인 참여를 격려하였으며, 경험의 제공자이자 학습 공동참여자로서의 역할을 수행하였다. 교사는 끊임없이 비판적 사고를 하면서 유아의 미래 사회에 대한 이해와 지속가능발전 개념을 연계시키기 위한 교실 맥락(context)을 제공하기 위해 노력하였다. 결론 교실에서 지속가능발전을 위한 교육의 필요성과 실천적 방향에 따라 다양한 교육적 관점이 논의되었다.

영문 초록

Objectives In this research, the changes in an early childhood teacher, which were made during the care for animals and plants in the class for five-year-old children in a daycare center based on the viewpoint of sustainable development, were explored. Methods 15 five-year-old children and one homeroom teacher were selected as the participants of this study, data was collected through interviews, participatory observation, and the teacher’s reflective journal, and then the data was analyzed qualitatively. Results The main results of the research are as follows. First, before practice, the children teacher regarded the education for sustainable development as something vague and difficult, but began to change the understanding of its notion over time. Second, the teacher was interested in small actions in the classroom, became immersed in it, and gave a challenge with the children. In this process, the teacher expanded the scope of reflective thinking, listened to the nature, became familiar to inconvenience, and experienced the changes in the values of and attitudes toward life and lifestyle. Third, the teacher became a reliable supporter for the children’s practice for sustainable development, encouraged the children to participate independently and actively, and played the role as the one offering experiences and joining learning together. The teacher constantly did critical thinking, and tried to provide the classroom context to connect the children’s understanding of the future society and the concept of sustainable development. Conclusions Depending on the necessity of education for sustainable development in the classroom and its practical direction, diverse educational viewpoints were discussed.
