재외국민 대학생들의 한국 언어·문화 적응의 어려움에 관한 심층면담 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국의 언어와 문화 적응에 어려움을 겪고 있는, 한국의 대학에 입학한 재외국민 대학생들에 대한 교육적 지원의 필요성에서 출발하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 한국의 대학에 입학한 재외국민 대학생들에 대한 심층면담을 통해 이들의 한국어와 한국 문화 적응의 어려움이 무엇인지 심층적으로 이해하고, 이들의 필요에 맞는 교육 지원에 대한 시사점들을 제공하는 것이다. 이를 위해 본고에서는 한국 언어·문화 적응에 가장 어려움을 경험할 것으로 예상되는 한국대학에 12년 특례로 입학한 학생들을 대상으로 심층면담을 진행하였다. 연구 참여자들은 대부분 서울 소재 대학에 재학 중인 학생들이었고, 면담 전 미리 연락하여 연구의 취지를 충분히 설명하였다. 그 후 질문지를 먼저 보내어 연구 참여에 대해 동의한 학생들과만 면담을 진행하였다. 재외국민 대학생들은 한국어 영역에서는 쓰기, 읽기, 문법, 맞춤법 영역에서 어려움을 경험하고 있었고, 한국 문화 영역에서는 나이 차로 인한 상하관계, 심한 경쟁, 다른 방식의 의사소통, 역사 지식의 부족 및 왜곡 등에 어려움을 경험하고 있었다. 이 외에도 정체성의 혼란, 외로움, 편견, 힘든 서류 작성 등에 대한 어려움을 호소하였다. 본 연구는 심층연구를 통해 재외국민 대학생들의 필요에 맞는 교육 지원의 시사점들을 제공하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The study started with the need for educational support for overseas college students who entered Korean universities, who are having difficulty adapting to Korean language and culture. The purpose of this study is to provide in-depth understanding of the difficulties of adapting to Korean language and culture through in-depth interviews with overseas Korean college students who entered Korean universities and to provide implications for educational support that meets their needs. To this end, the study was conducted in-depth interview with 12-year special admissions students who are expected to have the most difficulty adapting to Korean language and culture. The participants were students who were attending universities in Seoul. The researcher contacted the study participants in advance to fully explain the purpose of the study. After that, the questionnaire was sent first, and only the students who agreed to participate in the study were interviewed. Overseas Korean college students were experiencing difficulties in writing, reading, grammar and orthography in the Korean language area, and in the Korean culture area, they were experiencing difficulties in top-down relationships due to age differences, severe competition, different forms of communication, lack of historical knowledge and distortion. In addition, they complained about the confusion of identity, loneliness, prejudice, and difficulty in writing documents. This study is meaningful in that it provided implications for educational support that suits the needs of overseas college students through in-depth research.
