창의성 기법을 기반으로 한 교육연극이 초등학습자의 영어 말하기, 듣기 능력 및 정의적 태도에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 창의성 기법을 기반으로 한 교육연극이 초등 학습자의 영어 말하기, 듣기 능력 및 정의적 태도에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 서울 소재 3,4학년 4개 학급 112명을 대상으로 총 24차시, 12주간 수업을 진행하였다. 이후 영어 말하기 및 듣기 평가, 그리고 정의적 영역에 대한 설문지, 심층설문 및 개인 면담을 실시하였다. 본 연구를 통해 도출된 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 영어 말하기 세부 영역의 유창성, 발음, 적절성에서 두 집단이 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 둘째, 영어 듣기 능력 사전 및 사후 검사를 실시한 결과, 실험 집단의 경우 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 셋째, 영어 교과에 대한 정의적 태도 설문 결과 두 집단은 영어 말하기, 듣기, 영어 교과에 대한 흥미, 자신감, 학습 욕구, 참여도의 모든 세부 영역에 있어 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 따라서 창의적 기법을 적용한 교육 연극 수업이 학생들의 영어 학습과 영어 말하기, 듣기에 대한 정의적 태도에 매우 긍정적인 효과가 있으며 교실 수업에 다양한 창의기법과 교육연극 기법을 적용하여 학습자 중심의 연극 수업을 활용할 필요가 있다는 점을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of study is to suggest a Drama-in-Education with Creative technique lesson model and analyze the actual effectiveness on the development of students speaking, listening performance and affective attitude towards English learning. To analyze the effect of the Drama-in-Education with Creative techniques, Pelt listening Test, an English speaking performance test, and an affective attitude survey were used as pre and post test instruments. The results showed inclusion of Drama-in-Education with Creative techniques improved student’s speaking performance and listening performance. And students’ self-confidence in English learning was also increased and students showed higher interest in Drama-in-Education with Creative techniques. The outcome of the study indicates Drama-in-Education with Creative techniques has positive effect on speaking, listening performance and affective attitude towards English learning. In addition, this survey can also be expected to provide and help teachers the ways to integrate “Drama-in-Education” and “Creative techniques” in to English classroom. Although this research was limited to a elementary students of grade 3 and 4, it provides new insights and encourages elementary school English teachers to apply Drama-in-Education and Creative techniques into classrooms in order to enhance both divergent thinking and English communication skills in the process of performing learner centered activities. Since this research only experiments listening and speaking performance of four skills of language, future explorations need to be expanded to embrace all four skills of language learning.
