국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 영어권 한국어 학습자 대상 한국어 교육 연구 동향을 분석하고 앞으로의 연구 방향성을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다 방법 이를 위해 2000년부터 2023년까지 발행된 학술지 논문 100편, 학위 논문 103편을 분석 대상으로 선정하고 연도별, 유형별, 숙달도별, 주제별로 분류하여 분석하였다. 연구자가 분석 기준을 세우고 그에 따라 연구를 분류하는 질적 방법을 사용하였다. 결과 영어권 학습자 대상 한국어 교육 연구 수는 2000년에 시작되어 2015년에 가장 많은 연구가 발표되었으며, 현재까지는 일정한 수준으로 유지되고 있다. 논문의 발행 유형별로는 학술지 논문이 100편, 학위 논문이 103편이었으며 숙달도별로는 초급 대상의 연구가 가장 활발한 반면 중급 대상의 연구는 가장 적은 수를 나타내었다. 주제별로 살펴보면 교육 내용과 학습자 수행 양상 관련 연구가 가장 많은 비중을 차지한 반면 교육 일반과 학습자 요인, 교육 자료에 관한 연구는 상대적으로 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 결론 영어권 학습자 대상의 문화 교육 내용 연구가 더욱 활발하게 진행되어야 하며 영어권 학습자들이 사용할 수 있는 교육 자료에 대한 연구가 세부 주제와 숙달도에 따라 다양하게 이뤄져야 한다. 또한 교사 교육 관련 연구가 진행되어야 하고, 자기주도적 학습자에 대한 연구가 필요하다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to analyze the research trends in Korean language education for English-speaking Korean learners and propose future research directions. Methods To achieve this, 100 academic journal articles and 103 theses published from 2000 to 2023 were selected as the subjects of analysis. They were categorized by year, type, proficiency level, and topic for thorough examination. A qualitative method was used in which the researcher sets analysis criteria and classifies the study accordingly. Results Research on Korean language education for English-speaking learners began in 2000 and peaked in 2015, with the highest number of studies published. Since then, it has been maintained at a steady level. In terms of publication types, there were 100 academic journal articles and 103 theses, with the majority focusing on beginner-level learners, while research on intermediate-level learners was the least prevalent. Looking at the topics, studies on educational content and learner performance patterns accounted for the largest proportion, whereas research on general education, learner factors, and educational materials appeared relatively scarce. Conclusions Research on cultural education content for English-speaking learners needs to be conducted more actively, and studies on educational materials available to English-speaking learners should be diversified according to specific topics and proficiency levels. Additionally, research on teacher education and studies on self-directed learners are also necessary.
