국문 초록

본 연구에서는 경상북도 지역의 과학관의 입지적 특성을 분석하기 위하여, 고속도로 IC와의 접근성, 초등학생수에 따른 입지계수, 주택 관련 건물을 대상으로 한 과학관 주변의 인구 밀집도를 QGIS를 통해 시각적으로 공간분석하였다. 경상북도 23개 시/군에 과학관은 21개가 조사되었으며, 분석을 위한 벡터 데이터는 국가통계포털 자료와 국가공간정보포털 자료를 활용하였다. 연구 결과, 포항에 위치한 경상북도교육청과학원이 최근접 IC까지 가장 근접한 것으로 나타났다. 초등학생 수에 따른 경상북도 과학관의 입지 계수는 울진군이 가장 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 포항 지역의 로보라이프뮤지엄과 경상북도교육청과학원 주변이 인구 밀집도가 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 그러나 경상북도 23개의 시군에서 과학관이 없는 시군은 7개 33% 수준이므로 지역사회와 연계한 특색 있는과학관을 건립하기 위한 노력이 필요하다. 또한 향후 과학관 건립 시 입지 분석의 기본 요건인 접근성, 입지계수, 인구 밀집도 등을 바탕으로 한 입지 평가 기준이 마련되어 지역 간 과학관 공급 불균형이 발생하지 않도록 체계적인 정책수립이 필요하다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to analyze the location characteristics of local science museums in Gyeongbuk Province. Particularly, accessibility to expressway IC, location quotient by the number of elementary school students, and population density of housing-related buildings around the science museum were spatially analyzed and visualized through QGIS. 21 science museums in 23 cities or counties of Gyeongbuk Province were investigated, and data from Korean Statistical Information Service and National Spatial Information Portal was used as vector data for this analysis. The analysis results can be summarized as follows; Education Office Science Institute of Gyeongbuk Province located in Pohang showed the highest accessibility to the expressway IC. The science museum in Uljin County showed the highest location quotient by the number of elementary school students. Lastly, residential areas around Robo Life Museum in Pohang and Education Office Science Institute of Gyeongbuk Province were found to have the highest population density. Out of the 23 cities or counties in Gyeongbuk Province, 7 ones (33%) have no science museums. Therefore, it is necessary to work together to build distinctive science museums in association with the local community. Besides, when a science museum is planned in the near future, a systematic policy should be established as well in order to prevent the imbalance of supplying science museums among cities or counties, especially by preparing a location evaluation standard based on such basic conditions as accessibility, location quotient and population density.
