자살시도를 경험한 대학생의 변혁적 학습에 관한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 자살시도를 겪은 대학생들이 체험한 경험의 본질적 의미를 Mezirow의 변혁적 학습 이론의 관점에서 탐색하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 대학생이 겪은 자살시도 경험의 의미는 무엇인지, 지살시도 위기를 극복한 대학생에게서 일어나는 관점의 변화는 무엇인지, 자살시도 위기를 어떻게 극복하고 있는지를 연구문제로 설정하였다. 방법 연구방법은 주제의 특성에 따라 심층면담을 통한 현상학적 기법을 활용하였고, 연구 참여자는 자살시도 경험이 있는 대학교 재학 중인 5명으로 이루어졌다. 자료 분석은 Mezirow(2009)의 변혁적 학습 과정 10단계와 Giorgi(1985)의 현상학적 연구 분석 4단계에 따라 심층적으로 분석하였다. 결과 연구결과는 177개의 의미 단위를 발견하였고, 24개의 하위구성요소와 10개의 의미구성요소를 도출하였다. 의미구성요소는 자살시도 위기 4가지 구조, 자기 성장의 재발견 4가지 구조, 자살시도 위기 극복 2가지 구조의 범주로 구분되었다. 첫째, 대학생의 자살시도 위기는 위기적 상황과 전환기적 상황이라는 양가적 의미가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자살시도 위기를 겪은 대학생들은 지속적으로 자기의 성장을 재발견하게 되면서 새로운 자신의 역할이 확대된 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 자살시도 위기를 겪은 대학생들은 자기 역할 확대를 통해 자신감이 향상되어 긍정적으로 자신을 인식하고 주체적인 삶을 살아가고자 하며, 가족과 타인과의 관계에도 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 자아정체성이 발현되는 과정임을 발견하였다. 결론 본 연구의 결과가 향후 자살시도 경험이 있는 대학생의 삶에 대한 관점을 긍정적인 방향으로 설정하고, 자살시도 이후 학업을 중단하거나 회피하지 않고 지속적으로 이루어질 수 있도록 인식의 변화와 제도적 도움이 뒷받침되어야 할 필요성이 제기된다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to explore the essential meaning of university students who have experienced suicide attempts from the perspective of Mezirow s transformative learning theory. For this purpose, the meaning of the suicide attempt experienced by university students, how to overcome the suicide attempt crisis, and what is the change of perspective occurring in the university student who overcame the suicide attempt crisis were set as research questions. Methods The research method used a phenomenological technique through in-depth interview, and the study participants were 5 university students who had experienced suicide attempts. Results The research results could be divided into four categories of suicide attempt crisis, four structures of rediscovery of self-growth, and two structures of overcoming suicide attempt crisis. First, it was found that the crisis of university students suicide attempts has an ambivalent meaning as a crisis situation and a transitional situation. Second, They continue to rediscover their growth and find themselves expanding into new roles. Third, they expand their roles to increase their self-confidence, to perceive themselves positively, and to lead independent lives. Conclusions Therefore, the results of this study set the perspective of college students who have experienced suicide attempts in a positive direction in the future. After a suicide attempt, there is a need for a change in perception and institutional supported so that the learning can be continued without interruption or avoidance.
