발달장애인 부모의 돌봄부담감에 영향을 미치는 변인 연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 발달장애자녀를 둔 부모의 돌봄부담감에 영향을 미치는 변인 간의 관계를 살펴보고, 자녀의 생애주기와 부모의 사회활동참여 여부가 돌봄부담감에 영향을 미치는 지 살펴보고자 하였다. 방법 이를 위하여 발달장애자녀를 둔 부모 88명을 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문지에는 자녀의 생애주기, 부모의 연령대, 부모의 고민유형, 상담대상, 사회활동 참여 여부, 부모의 돌봄부담 등을 묻는 문항들이 포함되었다. 분석을 위하여 신뢰도분석, 기술통계분석, 교차분석, 다변량분산분석 등을 실시하였다. 결과 연구결과, 자녀의 생애주기, 부모의 연령대에 따라 부모의 고민유형이 달라졌으며, 부모는 주로 고민상담을 배우자나 다른 장애인의 부모와 하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 부모의 사회활동 유형에 따라 받는 사회적 지지는 달랐다. 자녀의 생애주기는 부모의 돌봄부담감에 영향을 주지 않았으며, 부모의 사회활동참여는 유형에 따라 돌봄부담감에 다른 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 종교활동에 참여하는 부모는 그렇지 않은 부모보다 사회적 부담감이 높았으며, 친목활동을 하는 부모는 그렇지 않은 부모보다 모든 분야의 돌봄부담감이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 자녀의 전환을 위하여 적극적으로 사회적 활동을 하는 부모는 경제적 부담감을 제외하고 나머지 부담감이 모두 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 결론 본 연구는 발달장애자녀의 부모가 어떤 사회활동에 참여하느냐에 따라 돌봄부담감이 다를 수 있음을 제안하며, 특히 자녀의 전환을 대비하여 직접 사회적 기업 등을 차리는 부모에 대한 연구를 하였다는 것에 의의를 둘 수 있다. 그러나 이러한 연구결과를 일반화하기에는 더 많은 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이며, 발달장애인에 대한 지원체계에 대한 해결방안으로 삼는 것에 대해서 경계한다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the variables that affect the burden of care for parents of children with developmental disabilities, and to examine whether the child s life cycle and parental participation in social activities affect the burden of caring. Methods For this purpose, an online survey was conducted targeting 88 parents of children with developmental disabilities. The questionnaire included items asking questions about the child s life cycle, parents age, parents types of concerns, counselor type, participation in social activities, and parents burden of care. For the analysis, reliability analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, cross analysis, and multivariate analysis of variance were performed. Results As a result of the study, it was found that the types of worries of parents differed according to the life cycle of their children and the age of the parents, and it was found that parents mainly consult with their spouses or parents of other disabled people. Also, the social support received by the parents differed according to the type of social activity. Children s life cycle did not affect parents burden of care, and parental participation in social activities was found to have different effects on burden of care depending on the type. In particular, it was found that parents who participated in religious activities had a higher social burden than parents who did not, and parents who engaged in friendship activities had a lower burden of care in all fields than parents who did not. In addition, parents who actively engage in social activities for their children s transition were found to have low all other burdens except for the economic burden. Conclusions This study suggests that the burden of caring for children with developmental disabilities may differ depending on which social activities the parents participate in. In particular, it is significant that the study was conducted on parents who set up social enterprises directly in preparation for their children’s transition. However, more research is needed to generalize these research results, and I am wary of using parents’ social enterprise activities as a solution to the support system for the developmentally disabled.
