코로나-19로 인한 유아교육과 교수자의 비대면 온라인 수업 경험

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 코로나-19 발생 이후 유아교육과 교수자의 비대면 온라인 수업 경험을 탐색하는 데 있다. 방법 2020년에 온라인 수업을 실시한 유아교육과 교수자 10명을 연구대상으로, 2021년 2월부터 3월까지 총 30회의 심층 면담을 실시하고 질적 연구방법에 따라 교수자들의 경험을 온라인 수업 시기별로 분석했다. 면담전사본과 함께 강의계획안, 수업 자료, 온라인 수업 영상 등의 자료도 수집해 자료 분석에 활용했다. 결과 첫째, 교수자들의 온라인 수업 초반 경험은 ‘온라인 수업이라는 낯선 별에 떨어지다’로 범주화했다. 교수자들은 걱정과 불안함 속에서 온라인 수업을 시작했으며, 수업을 온라인 자료화하는데 어려움을 겪었다. 둘째, 양질의 온라인 수업을 위한 교수자들의 노력은 ‘온라인 수업 날개를 달자!’로 범주화했다. 교수자들은 학생과의 상호작용을 위해 실시간 화상 수업의 선택, 다양한 에듀테크 기술의 활용, 온라인 수업 집중 전략 개발 등의 노력을 기울였다. 셋째, 교수자들이 느끼는 온라인 수업의 한계는 ‘온라인 수업의 유리천장을 느끼다’로 범주화했다. 교수자들은 예비교원들의 학습태도, 모의수업 지도, 유아 관찰, 인성 교육에서 어려움을 호소했다. 넷째, 2021년을 준비하는 교수자의 경험은 ‘온라인 수업 더 높이, 더 멀리 날아갈 준비를 하다’로 범주화했다. 교수자들은 온라인 수업에 자신감을 갖게 되었으며, 더욱 발전된 온라인 수업을 준비해야 한다는 사명감과 함께, 온라인 수업이 유능한 교원 양성이라는 교육 목적하에 이루어져야 함을 깨달았다. 결론 본 연구는 유아교육과 교수자의 비대면 온라인 수업 노력과 고민, 어려움을 알아봄으로써 유아교사 양성을 위한 온라인 수업 역량 강화 방안 마련을 위한 기초 자료 제공에 의의를 지닌다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of the present study is to examine the experience of instructors teaching online in early childhood education during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods The participants of this study were 10 instructors in Early Childhood Education who did teach online classes in the first and second semesters of 2020. Thirty in-depth interview were conducted from February to March 2021. A qualitative research analysis was conducted to review the instructor s experience with online teaching. Interview transcripts, syllabus, class materials, and online class videos were also collected and used for data analysis. Results The results of the study were as follows. Firstly, the instructors’ initial experience of teaching online classes was categorized as ‘falling into the strange star of teaching online’. The instructors started the online classes with worry and anxiety. They had difficulties in implementing online classes using technonlogy in the beginning. Secondly, the instructors efforts for high-quality online classes were categorized as ‘let’s fly up in online classes!’ In order to interact with pre-service early childhood teachers, the instructors tried to implement live-streaming online lecture, utilize various technologies, and develop teaching online strategies. Thirdly, the instructors reported several limitations of online classes in Early Childhood Education. Those were categorized as ‘teach online classes with glass ceiling’; difficulties in teaching appropriate online learning attitudes, implementing online classes with simulation or observation, and character education for pre-service early childhood teachers. Fourthly, the experiences of instructors preparing for online classes coming in 2021 were categorized as ‘let’s do more to fly higher and farther in online classes’. Lastly, the instructors gained self confidence in implementing online classes and had a sense of duty to make rapid progress in teaching online. They also realized that online classes were an appropriate teaching method for pre-service early childhood teachers. Conclusions This study is significant in providing basic data for empowerment of instructors in teaching online pre-service early childhood teachers.
