대학 신입생 대상 온라인 동료 튜터링에 참여한 튜티의 경험에 대한 질적 연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 대학 신입생을 대상으로 진행된 온라인 동료 튜터링에서 튜티의 경험을 탐색하고, 효과적인 온라인 튜터링 운영 방안을 제언하는 데 목적이 있다. 방법 2020학년도 2학기에 서울 소재 A대학 온라인 실시간 동료 튜터링 프로그램에 참여한 1학년 튜티 11명을 대상으로 튜터링 만족도, 실재감, 동기, 도움되었던 점 등을 중심으로 설문조사 및 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 본 연구에서는 Creswell의 질적 자료 분석 6단계를 사용하여, 설문조사 및 인터뷰 전사자료를 반복적으로 읽고 코딩 및 범주화를 진행하였다. 범주화된 자료는 교육공학과 교수 1인과 석박사과정 2인의 검토를 통해 최종 수정 및 타당화 작업을 진행하였다. 결과 첫째, 튜터링의 동기, 튜터링의 어려움, 튜터링의 이점, 기대와 현실의 간극, 튜터링의 개선방안의 다섯 개의 큰 주제로 분석되었다. 둘째, 본 연구에 참여한 튜티들은 학업 및 학교 생활 적응을 위해 튜터링에 참여했으며, 실제로 온라인 튜터링을 통해 유대감 및 만족감을 느끼는 경험을 했다고 응답하였다. 셋째, 장기화된 코로나 19 상황과 온라인에서의 기술적⋅행정적 어려움 등으로 인해 온라인 튜터링에 어려움을 겪었지만, 대체적으로 튜터링으로 인해 대학생활적응에 도움을 받았다고 기술하였다. 넷째, 질의응답 형식, 대면 모임 등의 튜터링 운영 방안을 기대했으나, 코로나 19 상황으로 인해 기대와 다른 경우가 있었다. 다섯째, 튜터링에서 느낀 어려움과 기대와 현실의 간극을 바탕으로, 튜터 가이드라인을 비롯한 기술적⋅행정적 개선방안을 제시하였다. 결론 본 연구에서는 연구 결과를 바탕으로, 신입생의 학업 및 대학생활적응을 위한 온라인 실시간 동료 튜터링의 이론적, 실제적 개선방안을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to explore the tutee’s experience in the course of online synchronous peer tutoring and to present the effective way to manage online synchronous tutoring. Methods This study collected data from freshmen who participated in 2020 online synchronous peer tutoring programs organized by Institute for Teaching and Learning of A university in the metropolitan area. 11 students took same major, and received their opinion about tutoring satisfaction, presence, motivation, advantage. In this study, Creswell’s six-step qualitative data analysis was used to increase the reliability and rigor of the entire process of analysis and interpretative, from coding to categorization. Categorized materials were finally edited and validated by the professor and 2 graduate students. Results Through this study, we could grasp the motivation, difficulty, advantage, gap between expectation and real, improvement of online synchronous peer tutoring. Second, tutees were participated peer tutoring for academical reason and adaptation of school life, and they can experience bond and satisfaction. Third, tutees were struggled with the pandemic situation and technological⋅administrative problems, but the peer tutoring was helpful in general. Fourth, tutees expected to operate tutoring such as Q&A format and face-to-face meetings, but there were cases where it was different from expectations due to the COVID 19 situation. Fifth, technical and administrative improvements, including tutor guidelines, were presented based on the difficulties, expectations, and gaps in reality felt in tutoring. Conclusions In this study, based on the above contents, the theoretical and practical methods for online peer tutoring conducted in university were examined and mentioned necessity of the helpful online synchronous peer tutoring for freshmen.
