국문 초록

<마더!>는 성경을 기반으로 서사 구조를 설계하고 그 속에서 모티프를 얻어 만들어진 영화다. 그리고 서사의필수 요소인 인물과 사건 그리고 공간이 서로 연결되며 서사를 수식하고 있다. 기존 영화들과 다른 점이 있다면 성경의 서사 재현에 그치는 것이 아니라 크로스미디어의 성격을 활용해 서사를해체 및 재창조 했다는 것이다. 인물과 사건에서 변형된 성경 모티프를 찾을 수 있으며 유일한 건축물이자 공간인‘집’이 역할을 부여 받으며 서사의 두 필수 요소를 수식함을 확인할 수 있다. 본고는 영화 <마더!>의 인물과 사건을 통해 성경 모티프를 재정리하고, 집을 통해 공간이 서사를 수식하는 방법에 대해 살펴본다. 영화는 해체 될 것 같은 부부의 이야기를 표면적으로 드러난 서사로 사용하며, 망가져 가는지구에 관한 이야기가 알레고리로 등장, 성경 모티프를 통해 감독이 전하고자 하는 메시지가 드러냈다. 본 연구는 넛셸 테크닉을 활용해 드러난 서사를 분석하며 알레고리와 모티프를 찾고, 집이라는 요소가 이를어떻게 뒷받침 하고 있는지 분석한다. 이를 통해 인물과 사건의 연관성을 찾고 영화 속 공간이 단지 배경으로만사용되는 것이 아니라 서사해석을 위한 도구로 사용될 수 있다는 점을 확인해 메시지를 찾는다. 영화에 대한 보다더 깊은 이해를 도우며, 성경 모티프 영화의 연구 범위 확장과 함께 서사 요소에 대해 보다 깊이 있는 후속연구가이루어지기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

is a movie made by designing an epic structure based on the Bible and getting motifs from it. And the characters, events, and spaces, which are essential elements of the narrative, are connected to each other and modify the narrative. What makes it different from existing movies is that it is not just a reproduction of the Bible, but rather a dissolution and re-creation of the narrative, using the nature of cross-media. You can also find a modified Bible motif in characters and events, and confirm that the only space, “house,” is given a role and modifies two essential elements of the narrative. This study is about the Bible motif movie reorganize through characters and events, and explore how space modifies narrative through house. The movie uses the story of a couple that is likely to be disbanded as a surface-revealing narrative, featuring stories about the breaking earth as an allegory, and revealed the message what the director wanted to convey through the Bible motif. This study uses Nutshell techniques to analyze narratives, find allegories and motifs, and analyze how the element of house as a space supports them. It also looks for organic connections between characters and events and finds messages by confirming that the space in the movie can be used as a tool for narrative interpretation, not just as a background. It is hoped that further research on narrative elements will be conducted along with the expansion of the scope of the study of biblical motif films, as well as a deeper understanding of the film.
