대학의 실시간 온라인 수업에 대한 교수자와 학습자의 인식 실태와 향후 과제

국문 초록

코로나19 사태는 오프라인 교육의 한계성과 동시에 온라인 교육 운영의 가능성을 보여준 사건이다. 이 글은 현재 코로나19 사태로 대학에서 운영되고 있는 실시간 온라인 교육의 현황을 통해 대학 교육이 나아가야 할 방향을모색하는 데 그 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 교수자와 학습자를 대상으로 실시간 온라인 수업 경험에 대한 설문을실시하였고, 그 결과를 토대로 실시간 온라인 수업의 현황과 과제에 대해 논의하였다. 이를 통해 도출한 결과를정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 콘텐츠, 시스템에 관한 기술적인 문제이다. 즉 온라인 강의의 문제점인 서버 오류, 인터넷 접속 불안정 등과 같은 기술적 문제를 해결하는 것이 시급하다. 둘째, 교수가 느끼는 실시간 온라인 수업의 문제점은 성적 평가에 대한 공정성이다. 셋째, 교수와 학생은 실시간 온라인 수업의 문제점은 상호 간 소통의부재이다. 넷째, 이러한 실시간 온라인 강의의 장점을 극대화하고, 이러한 문제점을 줄이기 위해서는 수강 인원을줄이고, 이에 대한 대안을 마련하는 것이 필요할 것이다. 다섯째, 현재 온라인 교육은 ‘기술적 문제, 성적 공정성, 소통 부재’ 등의 문제가 있지만, 개선의 가능성 또한 볼 수 있다는 점에서 그 의미를 찾을 수 있다. 이 연구는 비록 다양한 온라인 수업 실태에 대해서 다루지는 못했지만, 대부분의 대학이 직면한 실시간 온라인 수업의 문제를논의하여 더 나은 교육 환경을 마련할 수 있는 기초 자료를 제공하여 주었다는 점에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다.

영문 초록

While COVID-19 has shown us the limitations and problems of offline education, it has also opened the opportunities of online education. The purpose of the study is to investigate the current conditions of live online classes that has been introduced due to COVID-19 and figure out the next steps of changes that need to happen in education. In order to address the goals of the study, both professors and college students participated in survey questionnaires regarding their live online class experience and also engaged in discussions surrounding the results of the study. The following are the results of the study. First, the issue is directly related to the technical difficulties of the content and systems. It is urgent to resolve technical issues specifically related to online classes such as internet server issues, instabilities of the internet, and so forth. Secondly, professors have shared their concerns regarding the fairness of grading in live online classes. Thirdly, both professors and students agreed that online classes lack communication and engagement. Fourthly, in order to maximize the advantages of the live online classes and minimize the challenges posed, it is pertinent to restrict the number of students in a class. Lastly, although the current online education poses many challenges in the areas of “technical issues, evaluation fairness, and lack of communication and engagement,” it can be gleaned that there are also advantages of online education when addressing the areas of improvement. While the study was not able to resolve the various issues of online classes, it provided a baseline data to discuss the general challenges of live online classes across universities, so that we are aware of the conditions that need to be improved in creating a better learning environment.
