문화 실천적 관점에서 바라본 디지털 리터러시의 특징과 교육 방향

국문 초록

디지털 기술의 발달과 디지털 매체에 기반을 둔 읽기와 쓰기 활동이 보편화되면서, 디지털 리터러시 연구와 관련 교육에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 특히 디지털 매체 기반의 디지털 리터러시는 문화 실천적 관점에서도 볼 때 큰 영향력을 지닌다. 이에 이 연구에서는 문화 실천적 관점에서 디지털 리터러시의 특징과 교육의 방향을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이 연구에서 제시한 문화적 관점에서의 디지털 리터러시의 특징은 크게 세 가지이다. 우선, 디지털 리터러시는 문자, 영상, 음향, 이미지 등이 활용된 복합양식의 다감각적 글쓰기를 가능하게 한다. 다음으로 다양한 텍스트를 연계하고 타인과 글을 공유하는 행위를 통해 다층적 목소리가 공존할 수 있게 함으로써 탈권력화를 가능하게 만들었다. 마지막으로 디지털상의 글이나 콘텐츠에 대한 즉각적인 반응을 통한 소통을 가능하게 하여 문화 공유의 가능성이 확장되었다. 이러한 디지털 리터러시의 특징을 바탕으로 문화 실천을 위한 디지털 리터러시 교육 방향은 크게 세 가지로 제시했다. 첫 번째로 디지털 매체 기반의 글이나 콘텐츠의 경우, 비판적 사유를 기반으로 문화 가치를 공유할 수 있는 교육이 필요하다. 두 번째로 디지털 매체 기반 글쓰기를 통해 문화 가치를 창출할 수 있는 경험을 확대할 수 있는 교육이 필요하다. 세 번째로는 인문적 성찰을 통한 윤리적 디지털 글쓰기를 실천할 수 있는 교육이 필요하다. 디지털 리터러시가 지닌 문화 실천적 가치와 특징을 이해하고 이를 구체적으로 실현할 수 있는 교육 방향을 모색해 보는 것은 앞으로의 디지털 리터러시 연구와 교육에 있어서 필요하다. 새로운 디지털 기술의 발달에 맞춰 교육 내용 역시 변화될 수 있겠지만, 인문성에 기반을 둔 리터러시 교육의 본질이 훼손되지 않는 교육의 방향을 정립하는 것이 필요할 것이다.

영문 초록

With the development of digital technology and the generalization of reading and writing activities based on digital media, interest in digital literacy research and education is increasing. Particularly, digital literacy based on digital media is very important in terms of cultural practice. This study examines the characteristics of digital literacy and the direction of education from a cultural practice perspective. There are three main characteristics of digital literacy from the cultural perspective presented in this study. First, it is perceived as multi-sensory writing in a multimodal style, utilizing letters, images, and sounds. Next, as various texts are linked and writings could be easily shared with others, multilayered voices coexisted, enabling de-authorization. Finally, the possibility of sharing culture expanded as communication through immediate reaction to digital texts or contents became possible. Based on these characteristics of digital literacy, there are three major directions for digital literacy education for cultural practice. First, in the case of digital media-based texts or contents, education is needed to share cultural values based on critical reasoning. Second, education is needed to expand the experience of creating cultural values through digital media-based writing. Third, education is needed to implement ethical digital writing through humanistic reflection. It is necessary for future digital literacy research and education to understand the cultural and practical values and characteristics of digital literacy, and seek a direction for education to perceive it. Educational content may also change with the development of new digital technologies. However, it must establish a direction for education that does not damage the essence of literacy education based on humanities.
