국문 초록

이 연구는 근대 과학혁명기 과학사적 배경을 바로크음악에 적용하여 작품 감상 및 해석의 패러다임을 넓히는데 목적이 있다. 이에 본 연구는 라모의 화성론과 작곡 실제에 당대 과학혁명기의 사고가 어떻게 반영되었는지 알아보기 위해 음악과 과학 분야와의 협력 양상, 과학적 사고와 음악 언어의 관계에 관하여 살펴보았다. 라모는 자연적 음향 원리로부터 화음이 생성됨을 설명함으로써 화성이 음악의 근본임을 전제하였다. 또한 음을 물질로, 진행을 운동으로 환원하여 불협화음의 충돌을 은유적으로 설명함으로써 리듬과 화성에서의 운동성을 강조했다. 이어서 음악 진행의 종결을 인지할 수 있는 원리를 설명하기 위해 중력에 비견되는 기초저음이라는 원리를 창안하였다. 이는 외적 음향뿐만 아니라 가상의 음까지 듣기 위한 관계의 청취를 의미하는 개념이기도 하다. 또한 라모의 작품에 나타나는 혁신적 화성은 작곡 과정을 과학에서의 실험과 경험으로 여기고 자연적 음향과 힘의 원리를 음악의 진행에 반영함으로써 실현되었다.

영문 초록

This study aims to broaden the paradigm of appreciation and interpretation of Baroque works by applying the scientific thought that developed as a result of the scientific revolution to Baroque music. Further, it examines the aspects of collaboration of music and science and the relationship between scientific thought and Rameau s music language to clarify how Rameau s theory of harmony and practice of composition reflected the scientific thought of the time. He explained that harmony is governed by natural sound principles and it is presupposed that harmony is the basis of music. Further, he emphasized the impact of motility by metaphorically describing the collision of dissonance by reducing sound to matter and progression to motion. Subsequently, he invented the fundamental bass, which is comparable to gravity, to explain the principle of perceiving the closure of musical progression. Further, it is a concept that is applicable to the listening of both external and virtual sounds. In addition, the innovative harmony of Rameau s works was realized by considering the composition process as a scientific experiment and experience and by reflecting the principles of natural sound and force to the musical progression.
