국문 초록

근대 이후 영성은 예술, 심리학, 종교에서 분리되어 소외되어가다가 최근 명상이 새로운 패러다임으로 심리학에 유입되면서 영성이 다시 주목받기 시작하고 있다. 명상과 결합한 예술치료프로그램이나 초월적인 예술치료 접근이 늘어나는 현 추세에서 예술발달에서의 영성과 그 표현에 대해 새롭게 조망할 필요가 생겼다. 본 논문은 예술발달에서의 영성과 영적 예술표현에 대해 논의하기 위해, 자아초월심리학의 Ken Wilber의 통합예술 발달이론과 전통적인 예술표현과 미적 발달이론을 비교 고찰하고자 한다. 이를 통해 예술에서의 영성의 위치를 살펴보고 Wilber의 통합예술 발달이론의 이론 정립 가능성과 예술치료에서의 영성 예술의 의미를 모색하였다. 자아초월심리학적인 관점에서, 전통적인 예술 표현발달과 미적 발달이론을 Wilber의 통합예술 발달 이론과 비교 살펴본 결과, 전통적인 예술 표현발달과 미적 발달이론들은 예술에서의 영성의 발달 범위를 포괄하지 않으며 영성 예술에 대한 관점의 한계점을 발견하였다. 반면에 Wilber의 통합예술 발달이론은 예술에서의 전인적 발달 범위를 보이며, 수직과 수평적 수준의 통합적인 관점을 갖고 있으며, 영적이며 초월적인 영적 예술 발달에 대한 이해를 돕고, 예술의 창의성을 넘어 참된 영성 예술에 대해 말하는 것을 볼 수 있었다. Wilber의 예술발달은 예술에 대한 본질적인 이해와 가치를 재확인하게 하며 진정한 예술의 방향성을 제시해주고 있다. 또한 주류 심리학에서 예술표현과 미적 발달이론이 충분히 포함하지 못한 영성적인 인간의 전인적인 예술표현의 발달을 이해하게 한다. 더불어 초월적인 영성 예술의 이해를 돕는 예술 발달 모델로서의 정립 가능성을 볼 수 있어서 예술의 이해를 넓히게 하는 문화 예술 교육과 예술치료에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

Spirituality has been alienated from art, psychology, therapy, and religions since modern times; however, recently, spirituality has begun to gain attention again as meditation has been integrated into psychology as a new paradigm. As art expressive therapy programs combined with meditation and transcendent access to art therapy are increasing, a new view of spirituality and its expression in art development is needed. In order to discuss spirituality and spiritual art expression in art development, this paper compares Ken Wilber’s theory of integral art development with those of traditional artistic and aesthetic development in transpersonal psychology. Through this comparison, this paper examines the position of spirituality in art and explores the possibility of establishing Wilber’s theory of integral art development and the meaning of spiritual art. From a transpersonal psychology perspective, a comparison of traditional artistic and aesthetic development theories with Wilber s integral art development theory reveals that traditional artistic and aesthetic developmental theories do not fully cover the scope of spiritual development in art. In contrast, Wilber s theory of integral art development has a vertical and horizontal perspective, helps understand spiritual art development as moving toward spiritual art of a non-dual high level, and speaks of true spiritual art beyond art creativity. Wilber’s theory of integral art development reaffirms the essential understanding and value of art and suggests a true direction for art. It also makes us understand the development of the spiritually whole human in spiritual art expressions that do not fully include artistic and aesthetic developmental theories in mainstream psychology. In addition, it is expected to contribute to cultural and artistic education and art expressive therapy that broaden the understanding of art by seeing the possibility of establishing it as an art developmental model that helps to understand transcendent spiritual art.
