스타니슬랍스키 시스템의 수용적 관점에서 본 한재수의 『신·배우술』

국문 초록

이 논문은 1967년 출판된 한재수(Han Chaesoo)의 신·배우술에 나타난 스타니슬랍스키시스템(Stanislavski’s system)에 대해 연구한 것이다. 그 동안 연극사적 맥락에서 다루어진 일이없는 신·배우술은 해방 이후 스타니슬랍스키 시스템을 토대로 기술한 본격적인 연기론이라는점에서 주목을 끈다. 연구를 위해 본고에서는 신·배우술의 주요 참고 자료인 스타니슬랍스키 저서의 영역본과구소련에서 출판된 관련 서적의 일본어 번역본, 그리고 미하일 체호프의 저서 등을 검토한 후신·배우술의 내용과 비교하여 분석하는 방법론을 선택하였다. 그 과정에서 신·배우술이저자 한재수의 연기에 대한 이론적 지식과 다양한 현장 경험을 토대로 한 것이며, 장기간에 걸쳐수정된 스타니슬랍스키 시스템의 전모에 대한 이해를 토대로 기술되었다는 점, 나아가 스타니슬랍스키 시스템에 대한 맹목적 찬미나 추종보다 비판적 수용 태도를 견지한 저술이라는 점 등을확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구의 궁극적인 목적은 1960년대 한국 연극 현장에서 스타니슬랍스키 시스템이 어떻게 수용되었는지 그 양상을 파악하는 데에 있다. 이 연구의 결과가 향후 스타니슬랍스키 시스템의국내 수용에 관한 연구에서 연극사적 전환점을 규정할 때에 그 근거 자료가 될 수 있다는 점에서시사성을 발견할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study explores Stanislavski’s system in “Shin Bae Woo Sul,” written by Han Chaesoo and published in 1967. Although “Shin Bae Woo Sul” has not been studied in the context of theatrical history, it is an intense acting theory based on Stanislavski’s system and published after liberation from Japan. For the study, the English version of Konstantin Stanislavski’s book, which was the main reference of “Shin Bae Woo Sul,” as well as the Japanese version of relevant books published in the former Soviet Union, and Michael Chekhov’s books were reviewed and compared with “Shin Bae Woo Sul” for analysis. As a result, it was found that “Shin Bae Woo Sul” was based on the author Han Chaesoo’s theoretical knowledge and various experiences of acting and his understanding of Stanislavski’s system, which had been modified over a long period of time, and that it maintained an attitude of critical acceptance rather than unconditionally praising or blindly following Stanislavski’s system. The ultimate purpose of this study is to understand how Stanislavski’s system was accepted in Korean theater in the 1960s. This study has implications in that the results can serve as the basis for defining a turning point in theatrical history in future research on the acceptance of Stanislavski’s system in Korea.
