대학생의 전공변경 실행 이유와 어려움 탐색

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 대학생의 전공변경 실행 이유와 전공변경 실행과정 및 실행 후의 어려움을 탐색하여 전공변경으로 고민하는 학생을 도와야 할 교수와 대학기관에 유용한 시사점을 제공하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 서울소재 K대학 재학생 중, 입학 당시 소속되었던 전공을 떠나 새로운 전공으로 변경한 학생을 연구참여자로 모집하였으며 참여자 모집은 2019년 5월24일 부터 2019년 10월 1일까지, 총 3차에 걸쳐 진행되었다. 최종적으로 33명의 학생이 참여하였고, 이들의 전공변경 경험을 수정된 합의적 질적연구(CQR-M) 방법으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, ① 전공변경을 실행한 이유에서는 2개 영역(전적 학과에서 떠나고 싶었던 이유, 현적 학과를 선택한 이유)과 11개 범주, ② 전공변경 실행과정 어려움에서는 3개 영역(의사결정의 어려움, 전적학과에서의 경험이 무의미해지는 것에 대한 걱정, 새로운 학과 적응에 대한 걱정)과 12개 범주, 그리고 ③ 전공변경 실행 후 어려움에서는 3개 영역(현적학과 적응의 어려움, 전공변경 준비 미흡으로 인한 후회와 아쉬움, 전공변경 학생에 대한 지원 부족)과 10개 범주가 도출되었다. 전공변경 실행 이유, 전공변경 실행과정 어려움, 전공변경 실행 후 어려움별로 결과의 시사점을 기술하고, 끝으로 연구의 의의 및 향후 연구에 대해 제언하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to provide useful implications to professors and university institutions who should help students who are suffering from major changes by exploring the reasons for implementing major changes and difficulties in implementing them. To this end, research participants were recruited from among the students of K University, and the recruitment of participants was conducted three times from May 24, 2019 to October 1, 2019. Finally, 33 students who changed their majors to new ones were analyzed through the CQR-M (Coonsensual Qualitative Research-Modified) method. The results were as follows: ① The reasons for the major change were categorized into 2 domains (the reason for leaving previous major, the reason for chosing current major), 11 categories. ② Difficulties in the process of major change were categorized into 3 domains (the difficulty of decision making, concern about the meaninglessness of experience in the previous major, worries about adaptation to a new major), 12 categories. And ③ Difficulties after major change were 3 domains(the difficulty of adaptation to current major, regret due to insufficient preparation for major change, lack of support for students who changed majors), 10 categories. The implications of the results were described, and finally, the significance of the research and future research were suggested.
