국문 초록

이 연구는 초등학교 고학년 학습자를 중심으로 인물의 마음을 통한 인물 이해 양상을 탐색하였다. 인물의 마음은 인물의 행위를 이해하고 나아가 서사 작품을 이해하는 핵심으로 여겨져 왔다. 따라서 인물의 마음을 통한 인물 이해의 교육을 구체화하기 위해 학습자의 실제 양상을 통해 시사점을 밝힐 필요가 있다. 초등학교 고학년 학습자 101명의 감상문을 수집하여 인물의 마음을 통한 인물 이해의 양상을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 학습자들은 인물의 마음을 행위와 밀접하게 연관 지어 이해하지 못하고 직관적 인상을 나열하거나, 인물에 대한 동일시를 통해 독자의 경험을 과도하게 투사하거나, 도덕적 규범에 근거하여 이분법적 가치판단을 내리는 과정을 보였다. 이는 학습자가 인물을 심층적으로 이해하고 자신의 삶을 이해하는 데 방해가 되는 요소이다. 따라서 인물의 마음을 통한 서사 이해의 교육 방안은 학습자가 행위와 마음을 밀접히 관련시키며 그 행위의 여러 측면을 윤리적으로 숙고할 수 있도록 설계되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The study explored the understanding of characters through the minds of the characters, focusing on senior elementary school learners. The mind of the character has been regarded as the key to understanding the behavior of the character and further understanding the narrative work. Therefore, it is necessary to clarify the implications through the actual aspects of the learner to embody the education of the person s understanding through the person s mind. The appreciation texts of 101 senior elementary school learners were collected to analyze the limitations of learners understanding of characters. As a result, learners showed the process of failing to closely associate the mind of a character with the act and listing the intuitive impression, excessively projecting the learner s experience through the identity of the characters, or making dichotomous value judgments based on moral norms. This is a factor that hinders learners from understanding characters in depth and their lives. Therefore, the educational method of understanding the narrative through the mind of the person should be designed so that the learner can closely correlate the behavior with the mind and contemplate the various aspects of the act ethically.
