국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 대학생의 공감능력, 다문화수용성, 사회적 거리감의 관계를 알아보고, 공감능력과 다문화수용성의 관계에서 사회적 거리감이 매개효과가 나타나는 지 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해서 G시 및 J시에 소재한 대학교에서 교양과목을 수강하고 있는 남녀 학생 310명을 대상으로 공감능력 척도, 다문화수용성 척도, 사회적 거리감 척도를 사용하여 2018년 6월 5일부터 15일간 검사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 22.0을 사용하여 기술통계 및 상관분석을 실시하였으며, 사회적 거리감의 매개효과 검증을 위해 Baron과 Kenny가 제안한 절차에 따라 위계적 회귀분석과 Sobel test를 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생의 공감능력과 다문화수용성 간의 관계는 유의미한 정적 상관관계가 있었고, 공감능력과 사회적 거리감 간의 관계와 사회적 거리감과 다문화수용성 간의 관계는 유의미한 부적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 대학생의 공감능력과 다문화수용성의 관계에서 사회적 거리감의 완전매개효과가 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 다문화수용성을 증진시키기 위해서 대학생의 공감능력 수준을 높이는 것뿐만 아니라 사회적 거리감을 좁히는 것이 중요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between empathy ability, multicultural acceptability, and social distance in university students and to examine whether social distance is mediating effect of empathy ability and multicultural acceptance. For this purpose, 310 male and female students taking liberal arts courses at G and J universities were surveyed for 15 days from June 5, 2018 using the empathic ability scale, multicultural acceptance scale, and social distance scale. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlation analysis using SPSS 22.0, and hierarchical regression analysis and Sobel test were conducted according to the procedure proposed by Baron and Kenny to verify the mediating effect of social distance. The results of this study are as follows. First, there was a significant positive correlation between empathy ability and multicultural acceptability of college students. There was a significant negative correlation between the relationship between empathy ability and social distance, social distance, and multicultural acceptance. Second, the relationship between empathy ability and multicultural acceptance of college students showed full mediation effect of social distance.
