가정환경 자극과 부모의 온정적 양육이 5세 유아의 언어 및 인지발달에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 만 5세 유아의 언어 및 인지발달에 가정환경 자극과 부모의 온정적 양육행동이 미치는 영향을 가정의 소득수준에 따라 구분하여 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 육아정책연구소(KICCE)에서 2013년도에 수집한 한국아동패널 6차 연도 자료 1,188 가구(저소득 85가구)의 데이터를 사용하였으며, 빈도분석, 기술통계분석, t-검정, 상관분석, 그리고 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 저소득가정보다 일반가정에서 물리영역의 가정환경 자극, 어머니의 온정적 양육행동, 그리고 유아의 언어발달 수준이 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로 유아의 언어발달에는 일반가정의 경우 아버지의 온정적 양육행동, 저소득가정의 경우 가정환경 자극 물리영역이 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 유아의 인지발달의 경우 일반가정에서는 유의한 변인이 없었으나 저소득가정은 가정환경 자극 물리영역이 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해 유아의 언어 및 인지발달에 영향을 미치는 변인이 가정의 소득에 따라 다름을 확인하였으며, 일반가정에서는 아버지의 온정적 양육행동을 향상시키고 저소득가정에서는 가정의 학습자료와 물리적 환경을 개선하는 것이 필요함을 밝혔다.

영문 초록

This study empirically examined effects of the home environment stimuli and affective parenting of mother and father on linguistic and cognitive development of 5year olds both from low income and normal family. We analyzed the data from the 6th year Korean Children Panel Study (KCPS), including 1,188 families (85 low income families) with 5-year-old children. We conducted descriptive statistics, t-test, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study were as follows: First, it was found that physical domain of HOME, mother s affective parenting behavior, and linguistic development were higher in normal family than in low income family. The degree of behavioral domain of HOME, father’s affective parenting behavior, and cognitive development were not different between two groups. Second, linguistic development of 5 year olds was affected by physical domain of HOME in low income family and father’s affective parenting behavior in normal family when the effects of parents’ educational attainment levels and children’s gender were controlled. Third, Cognitive development of 5 year olds was also affected by physical domain of HOME in low income family when the effects of parents’ educational attainment levels and children’s gender were controlled. Therefore the quality of home environment stimuli such as physical environment and academic stimulation are crucial factors on linguistic and cognitive development in low income family. Father’s affective parenting turns out to be the great influence on the linguistic development of young children in normal family
