국문 초록

다른 병과 달리 희귀·난치병에서 비롯되는 고통에는 질병을 도덕적인 타락이나 신의 형벌로 바라보는 태도 때문에 생기는 고통이 있다. 이 고통으로 희귀·난치병을 앓는 환자나 환자 가족들은 이중의 고통을 겪는다. 이 논문은 이러한 고통을 안은 사람이 철학상담의 내담자로 올 때 문제 해결의 실마리가 될 수 있는 이론을 마련하는 데 목적을 두었다. 철학상담의 이론적 근거는 가다머의 철학적 해석학이며, ‘영향사(Wirkungsgeschichte)’개념을 도입하여 문제에 접근한다. 이 연구는 특정 질병관을 은유로 보고 질병에 가하는 해석에 반대하는 수전 손택(Susan Sontag)과의 대결을 통해 가다머의 해석학을 부각하고자 하였다. 논문은 크게 세 부분으로 구성되어 있다. 첫 번째는, 질병을 도덕적인 타락이나 신의 형벌 등 은유적으로 바라보는 태도에 반대하는 수전 손택의 견해를 소개한다. 두 번째는, 철학적 해석학에서 영향사 개념을 ‘이해’와 ‘선입견’과 함께 소개한다. 세 번째는, 영향사 개념을 중심으로 철학적 해석학이 철학상담에서 어떠한 역할을 할 수 있을지 논한다.

영문 초록

There are other kinds of pain resulted from the viewpoints which consider incurable rare diseases as moral decadence or punishment of god, not as the normal ones. Many patients and their family members suffer from double pains. This essay aims to provide the theory for the people who need the philosophical advice for those pains. The theoretical ground for the philosophical counseling could be found in Gadamer’s hermeneutics and the history of effect(Wirkungsgeschite). This study intends to bring Gadamer’s hermeneutics into focus in terms of dispute over Susan Sontag’s view that is against the interpretations that treat disease, taking the particular disease as a metaphor. This essay consist of three parts. The one is to introduce the Susan Sontag who does not agree the interpretation that considers the diseases as the moral decadence or punishment of god, instead viewing it as just the metaphor. The second is to introduce the role of the history of effect in the philosophical hermeneutics as well as understanding and prejudice in it. The third is to assess what role the philosophical hermeneutics plays in philosophical counseling.
