국문 초록

본 연구는 재미 이민자의 행복에 영향을 미치는 요인으로서 문화적응 유형과 성격강점과의 관계가 어떠한지를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구대상자는 미국 동부지역의 거주하고 있는 190명의 이민자들을 대상으로 하였다. 자료 분석을 위해 SPSS 23.0과 PROCESS Macro를 사용하였다. 상관분석결과 성격강점과행복 간에 정적 상관이 있었으며, 행복과 문화통합과 문화주변화는 정적인 유의한 상관이 있었으며, 문화분리는 부적 상관이 있었다. 독립변인이 문화적응에 따른 성격강점과의 관계를 살펴본바, 문화동화, 문화분리, 문화통합과의 관계는 유의하지 않은 반면, 문화 주변화와의 관계는 정적으로 유의하였다. 문화적응 유형에 따라 성격강점을 통한 행복에 미치는 효과를 검증한 결과, 문화주변화를 독립변인으로설정한 모형에서는 간접효과가 정적으로 유의하였다. 문화 주변화의 수준이 높을수록 개인의 성격강점에 대한 인식과 행복의 수준이 증가한다는 것을 의미한다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to find out the relationship between acculturation and personality strengths as a factor influencing the happiness of immigrants to the US. The subjects of the study were 190 immigrants living in the eastern part of the US. for data analysis, SPSS 23.0, and PROCESS Macro were used. As a result of the correlation analysis, there was a positive correlation between happiness, integration, and marginalization, and a negative correlation between segregation. The relationship between the independent variable and personality strengths according to cultural adaptation was examined. The relationship with assimilation, segregation, and integration was not significant, while the relationship with marginalization was statically significant. As a result of verifying the effect on happiness through personality strengths according to the type of acculturation, the indirect effect was positively significant in the model with marginalization set as an independent variable. It means that the higher the level of marginalization, the higher the level of happiness and awareness of the individual’s personality strengths.
