국문 초록

목적 본 연구의 목적은 부모의 성격 5요인이 부모의 스마트폰 중독에 미치는 자기효과와 상대방효과를 비교하고, 부모의 성격 5요인이 스마트폰 중독, 초등학생의 미디어 기기 중독을 매개로 학교적응에 영향을 미치는 구조적 관계를 검증하는 것이다. 방법 한국아동패널 13차(2020년) 데이터의 부모-자녀 587쌍을 분석 대상으로 하였으며, 자기-상대방 상호의존모형(APIM)에 기초하여 부모의 성격 5요인이 부모의 스마트폰 중독에 미치는 자기효과와 상대방효과를 비교하였다. 부모의 성격 5요인이 스마트폰 중독, 초등학생의 미디어 기기 중독을 매개로 학교적응에 영향을 미치는 구조적 관계를 검증하기 위해 구조방정식 분석 방법을 활용하였으며, 추정 방법으로 최대우도법(ML)을 사용하였다. 결과 첫째, 어머니의 친화성, 성실성은 자신의 스마트폰 중독에 부적인 영향, 어머니의 신경증은 자신의 스마트폰 중독에 정적인 영향을 미치는 자기효과가 확인되었다. 아버지의 성실성은 자신의 스마트폰 중독에 부적인 영향, 아버지의 신경증은 자신의 스마트폰 중독에 정적인 영향을 미치는 자기효과가 확인되었다. 어머니의 신경증은 아버지의 스마트폰 중독에 정적인 영향을 미치는 상대방효과가 확인되었다. 둘째, 성격 5요인 중 친화성, 성실성, 신경증에서 자기효과 및 상대방효과 간 크기에 차이가 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 셋째, 어머니의 친화성, 성실성, 신경증은 자신의 스마트폰 중독, 초등학생의 미디어 기기 중독을 매개로 학교적응에 영향을 미치며, 아버지의 성실성, 신경증은 자신의 스마트폰 중독을 매개로 학교적응에 영향을 미쳤다. 특히 어머니의 신경증은 아버지의 스마트폰 중독을 매개로 초등학생의 학교적응에 부적인 영향을 미쳤다. 결론 본 연구는 어머니와 아버지의 성격 5요인이 자신과 배우자의 스마트폰 중독에 영향을 미치는 변인일 뿐 아니라, 초등학생의 미디어 기기 중독과 학교적응에 차별적인 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to compare the actor and partner effect of the Big Five parental personality traits on parental smartphone addiction, and to examine the effect of Big Five parental personality on school adaptation through smartphone addiction and media device addiction in elementary school students. Methods A total 587 parent-child pairs data from the 13th Korean Children and Youth Panel Surveys(2020) were used to compare the actor and partner effect of Big Five parental personality traits on parental smartphone addiction through the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model(APIM). The structural equation analysis method was also used to verify the structural relationship among the Big Five parental personality traits, school adaptation, smartphone addiction, and media device addiction in elementary school students. Results The major findings of this study are so follows. First, Mothers’ agreeableness and conscientiousness had a negative actor effect, but neuroticism had a positive actor effect on her smartphone addiction. Fathers’ conscientiousness and neuroticism also showed same pattern as mothers. However, mothers’ neuroticism had a negative partner effect on fathers’ smartphone addiction. Second, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism showed differences between the actor and the partner effect. Third, mothers’ agreeableness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism affect on school adaption through her smartphone addiction and media device addiction of their child. Fathers’ conscientiousness and neuroticism also affect on school adaption of child through his smartphone addiction. Especially, mothers’ neuroticism showed negative effect on school adaption of child through fathers’ smartphone addiction. Conclusions This study suggests that mother and fathers’ Big Five personality traits can affect their smartphone addiction as well as media device addiction and school adaptation of their child in elementary school.
