영유아 특기적성교육의 실태와 영재교육에 대한 부모의 인식

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 영유아 특기적성교육의 실태와 영재교육에 대한 부모의 인식을 살펴보았다. 방법 본 연구는 광주광역시의 유아교육기관에 다니는 영유아의 부모 465명을 대상으로 2022년 1월 13일부터 2월 11일까지 4주 동안 설문 조사를 시행하고, 빈도분석과 t 검증, F 검증, Scheffé 사후검증으로 자료를 분석하였다. 결과 부모는 자녀의 잠재능력을 개발하기 위해 정규교육과정 밖 특기적성교육의 필요성을 강하게 느끼고 있었다. 특기적성교육을 선택할 때도 교육프로그램의 내용과 형식을 가장 많이 고려하고, 자녀가 특기적성교육 받는 것을 싫어해도 계속 시키겠다고 응답할 정도로 특기적성교육에 대한 요구가 높게 나타났다. 그러나 부모는 경제적 부담 때문에 학습 사교육에 치중한 모습을 보였다. 특기적성교육으로서 영재교육에 대해서도 부모는 필요성을 강하게 느끼고 있으며, 영재교육에 참여할 의사가 있음을 보여주었다. 부모는 영재교육의 전문성을 강하게 인식하고, 영재교육의 전망을 매우 긍정적으로 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 유아교육기관은 자녀의 잠재능력을 개발하고 싶은 부모의 요구를 최대한 반영하여 수준 높은 방과 후 프로그램을 다양하게 마련하는 것이 필요하다. 이처럼 영유아의 잠재능력 개발에 대한 부모의 강한 의지와 요구를 반영하는 방안을 제시하는 데 본 연구의 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the reality of young children’s education for competence and talent and parents’ perception on the education for the gifted children. Methods The subjects of this study were 465 parents whose children attending preschools and kindergartens in Gwangju metropolitan city for four weeks from the 13th of January to the 11th of February in 2022. This study conducted survey research, and analyzed data using frequency analysis, t test, F test, and Scheffé post hoc test. Results The results of this study were as follows. Parents felt severely the necessity of young children’s education for competence and talent as the outside education of regular curriculum. Parents considered mostly the contents and forms of the education program when they chose young children’s education for competence and talent. They answered that they urged their children to keep participating in young children’s education for competence and talent even if their children did not want to participate in it. That is to say, the parents’ demands about young children’s education for competence and talent were very high. However, they showed that they focused on learning private education because of economical burden. Further, they felt severely the necessity of gifted education as young children’s education for competence and talent, and showed that they wanted to participate in gifted education. Parents perceived severely the specialty of gifted education, and perceived very positively the prospect of gifted education. Conclusions It was necessary that educational institutions for young children should provide diversely high-quality after school programs by reflecting parents’ demands to develop their children’s potential. It was significant that this study suggested the way of reflecting parents’ strong will and demands to develop their children’s potential.
