성인초기 여성의 몸 이야기 경험에 관한 내러티브 탐구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 성인초기 여성들의 몸에 대한 이야기를 통해 여성으로서의 정체성 인식과 정체성 인식의 재구성 과정을 이해하고, 이를 통해 몸에 대한 이야기 경험의 의미를 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 방법 이를 위해 삶의 경험과 그 경험 안의 의미를 이해하는 데 적합한 내러티브 탐구를 수행하였다. 자신의 몸에 대해 이야기하는 집단상담 프로그램에 참여한 20대 후반의 여성 2명을 대상으로 2020년 8월부터 2021년 3월까지 심층 인터뷰, 경험보고서, 이메일 등을 통해 자료를 수집하였고, 내러티브 탐구 방법에 따라 시간성, 사회성, 장소의 삼차원적 지점에 주목하여 분석하였다. 결과 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구참여자들은 몸에 대해 이야기하는 경험을 통해 이전에는 의식하지 못했거나, 부끄럽게 생각했던 이상적인 여성성에 부합하지 않는 자신의 부분들을 수용하게 되었다. 둘째, 연구참여자들은 몸 이야기 경험을 통해 주요한 타인과의 관계를 재조명하고, 타인을 수용하는 자세를 가짐으로써 타인과의 관계가 확장되었다. 셋째, 연구참여자 모두 안전하고 수용적인 집단 경험이 자신을 개방하는 계기가 되었고, 그 안에서 자신의 이야기를 새롭게 해석하며 자아정체성의 변화를 경험할 수 있었다. 결론 본 연구는 성인초기 여성들의 몸 이야기 경험이 그들의 성정체성 인식에 어떤 영향을 미쳤는지를 이해하고, 억압된 정체성이 몸을 매개로 한 이야기를 통해 어떻게 재구성될 수 있는지를 보여주었다. 이를 통해 성인초기 여성들이 스스로를 수용하는 기회이자 성장을 위한 발판으로서 몸에 대한 이야기 경험의 의미를 확인하였다. 또한 여성의 몸 이야기의 의미와 가치를 드러냄으로써 남성 중심적인 사회에서 억압받고 있던 여성의 몸 이야기가 공적 담론의 장으로 나올 수 있는 계기가 될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aims to understand the process of recognizing identity as a woman and reconstructing the identity through young adult women's storytelling of bodies and to explore the meaning of storytelling experience about the body. Methods For this purpose, narrative inquiry suitable for understanding the life experience and the meaning within the experience was performed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, experience reports, and e-mails from August 2020 to March 2021 for two women in their late 20s who participated in a group counseling program that talked about their bodies, and focused on the three-dimensional points of time, sociality, and place according to the narrative inquiry method. Results The results of this study are as follows. First, through the experience of telling stories of the body, the research participants became accepted themselves that did not match the ideal femininity that they were previously unconscious or ashamed of. Second, the participants' relationship with others expanded by re-thinking the relationship with important others through their storytelling of the body and accepting others. Third, All participants were able to experience a change in their self-identity by interpreting their own story anew within the safe and receptive group. Conclusions This study understands how young adult women's body storytelling experience of the body affect their perception of gender identity, and demonstrates how repressed identities can be reconstructed through telling stories of the women’s body. Through this result, we confirmed the meaning of the experience of telling stories of the body as an opportunity for young adult women to accept themselves and as a scaffolding for growth. In addition, by revealing the meaning and value of the storytelling of the woman's body, we expect to provide a momentum that the storytelling of the woman's body, which was oppressed in a male-dominated society, will be dealt with in the stage of public discourses.
