초등학생의 인공지능 의인화가 인공지능에 대한 태도와 진로희망에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

목적 본 연구에서는 초등학생의 인공지능에 대한 의인화, 태도, 진로희망 양상을 탐색함으로써 인공지능 리터러시 교육을 위한 시사점을 도출하고자 한다. 방법 인공지능 교육 경험이 있는 4학년에서 6학년까지의 초등학생 27명을 대상으로 인공지능에 대한 면담을 실시하였고, 인공지능에 대한 의인화, 태도, 진로희망 간의 관련성을 탐구하기 위해 질적인 분석과 함께 면담자료를 양화하여 피셔의 정확검정을 실시하였다. 결과 연구에 참여한 상당수의 초등학생들이 인공지능이 감정, 자의성, 일반지능을 가지고 있지 않지만 사람과 유사하게 창의성을 가지고 있다고 인식하였다. 인공지능 의인화에 있어서 학생 간 개인차가 나타났으며, 이러한 개인차는 인공지능에 대한 태도에 주요한 영향을 미쳤다. 인공지능이 감정을 가지고 있다고 믿는 학생일수록 인공지능과 함께 살아갈 미래 사회에 대해 긍정적인 태도를 보였다. 그리고 긍정적인 태도를 가진 학생일수록 인공지능과 관련된 직업을 희망하였다. 결론 이러한 연구결과는 초등학교에서 인공지능 의인화에 대한 심도 있는 연구와 교육이 필요하다는 것을 시사한다. 향후 초등학생들이 인공지능과 함께하는 실제적인 학습 경험을 통해 인공지능에 대한 신념과 태도에 대해 성찰할 수 있도록 도울 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study intends to explore students’ anthropomorphism, attitude, and career hope about AI in order to get implications for AI literacy education. Methods This study conducted interviews with 27 elementary school students in the fourth to sixth grades who had the experience of AI education. We analyzed the interviews not only in a qualitative way but also in a quantitative way by quantifying the interviews and carrying out Fisher’s exact test in order to explore the relationships among anthropomorphism, attitude, and career hope about AI. Results Elementary school students were likely to perceive AI as creative as a human being although they somewhat disagreed that AI had emotion, self-willingness, and general intelligence. This study found individual differences in the anthropomorphism of AI, which influenced students’ attitude toward AI. Students, who believed that AI had emotion, were more likely to have a positive attitude toward the future life with AI. In addition, students with the positive attitude were more likely to have a career hope in the area of AI. Conclusions These findings imply that more research and education regarding the anthropomorphism of AI are necessary in elementary schools. Teachers need to help elementary school students to reflect on their previous beliefs and attitudes toward AI through authentic learning experiences with AI.
