Sense of Community and Cultural Community Competence of Russian Students and Teachers

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 러시아 로스토프 보통교육기관 학생들과 교사들의 공동체 의식(구성원 인식, 상호영향 인식, 욕구충족과 통합, 그리고 정서적 연계)과 문화 공동체 역량에 대해 조사하였다. 본 연구의 주요 목적은 학생별, 교사별, 그리고 학생과 교사 간 공동체 의식요소(구성원 인식, 상호 영향 인식, 욕구 충족 및 통합, 정서적 연계)와 문화 공동체 역량(돌봄과 관용, 대인관계 기술, 문화 정체성, 문화다양성의 이해와 수용)간의 차이점을 규명하는 것이다. 방법 본 연구에 269명(학생169명, 교사 100명)의 인원이 참여하였다. 학생들은 연령, 학년, 성별, 올림피아드 참가 여부, 올림피아드 수상 여부, 장애로 인한 학업문제 여부에 따라 분석하였다. 교사는 연령, 경력, 성별, 학급 내 올림피아드 참가자 유무와 장애로 인한 학업에 어려움이 있는 학생 유무로 분석하였다. 본 연구를 위한 설문은 공동체 의식에 관한 16개의 문항과 문화 공동체 역량에 관한 20개의 문항으로 구성되었다. 공동체의식에 대한 문항은 McMillan & Chavis(1986)의 문항을 한국어판으로 타당화한 Park, H. C. (2018)의 설문지를 사용하였다. 문화 공동체 역량에 대한 문항은 Chen & Starosta(2000)의 문항을 참고로 수정해서 사용한 강세연(2019)의 설문지를 사용하였다. 자료분석은 SPSS 26.0 소프트웨어 패키지를 사용하여 수행되었다. 결과 연구결과, 학생과 교사 모두 연령, 학년/경력, 성별에 따라 공동체 의식과 문화공동체 역량에 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 연령이 낮은 참여자에 비해 연령이 높은 참여자, 남성에 비해 여성에서 높은 비율이 발견되었다. 결론 인구학적 특성 중 나이, 성별, 학년 / 경력은 학생과 교사 모두에게 공동체 및 문화 공동체 역량 형성 및 개발에 대한 중요한 예측 변수이며, 학생과 교사의 정신 건강과 웰빙의 다양한 측면에 부정할 수 없는 영향을 미치기 때문에 공동체 의식에 기여하는 요소를 이해하는 것은 중요한 실질적인 영향을 미친다.

영문 초록

Objectives The article discusses sense of community and cultural community competence of students and teachers from general education schools of Rostov-on-Don city, Russia. The main objective of the study was to determine the differences between the elements of a sense of community (member consciousness, mutual influence consciousness, satisfying needs and integrating and emotional connection) and of cultural community competence (caring and generosity, interpersonal skills, cultural identity and understanding and inclusiveness of cultural diversity) among students, among teachers, and between students and teachers. Methods 269 people (169 students and 100 teachers) took part at the research. Students were divided into conditional groups according to the age, grade, gender, on the basis of participation in Olympiads as well as presence / absence of Olympiad awards and presence / absence of study problems due to physical disability. Teachers were divided into groups according to their age, career, gender, on the basis of the presence / absence of Olympiad participants in class and the presence / absence of study problems due to physical disability in class. The questionnaire for the study consisted of 16 questions on sense of community and 20 questions on cultural community competence. Questions on sense of community used a questionnaire from Park, H. C. (2018), which justified McMillan & Chavis s questions (1986) in Korean. For questions on cultural community competence used Kang Se-yeon’s questionnaire (2019), a revised questionnaire by Chen & Starosta (2000). Data processing was carried out using the SPSS 26.0 software package. Results As a result, both students and teachers revealed significant differences in the sense of community, cultural community competence and their elements depending on age, grade/career and gender. The higher rates were found in older participants compared to younger ones, and in women in comparative to men. Conclusions The characteristics we considered - age, gender, and grade/career - are significant predictors of the sense of community and cultural community competence formation and development in both students and teachers. As the latter has undeniable effect on various aspects of students’ and teachers mental health and well-being, under-standing factors that contribute to the sense of community has important practical implications.
