유아들의 물질성 탐구를 통한 놀이의 의미

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 포스트휴머니즘의 물질적 전환의 관점에서 만 5세 유아들이 신문지라는 물질과 만나 물질성을 탐색하며 몰입하는 놀이의 모습을 살펴보고 그 의미를 파악해봄으로써 유아의 놀이를 바라보는 스펙트럼을 넓히고자 하였다. 방법 이를 위해 자료수집은 코로나19 확산 시기에 만 5세 반에서 2020년 6월 1일부터 9월 29일까지 4개월, 총 77일 동안 유아들의 놀이를 관찰하는 것으로 진행되었으며, 수집된 자료는 질적 연구 방법으로 사진 및 동영상, 현장노트, 연구일기, 배움공동체에서의 상호작용을 통해 자료를 다각적으로 수집하고 자료를 분석하였다. 결과 본 연구의 결과, 유아들은 신문지와 자유롭게 마주쳐 다양한 물질성을 발현하며 놀이하며, 1차적으로 신문지 놀이 과정을 신문지 자체 놀이, 신문지 재현 놀이, 신문지 크게 놀이로 분류하였다. 그리고 최종적으로 신문지 놀이 과정에서 물질성이 가장 잘 발현되는 순간을 중심으로 ‘몸으로 물질을 느껴요-특개성’, ‘물질의 힘을 따라가요-확장성’, ‘물질과 하나되어 시공간을 창조해요-창조성’의 의미가 있었다. 결론 본 연구는 유아들이 물질성을 탐색하는 놀이 과정이 2019 개정 누리과정에서 주목하는 진정한 유아 주도 놀이임을 시사하며, 물질성을 탐색하는 놀이의 가치를 찾을 수 있었다. 또한 물질성에는 유아가 감각을 통한 경험으로 자신만의 의미를 만들어내는 물질의 본질을 파악하는 능동적인 배움이 있음을 시사한다. 이러한 유아들의 물질성 탐색을 통한 유아 주도놀이를 지원하기 위한 놀이지원자로서의 교사의 지원에 대해 방향성을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study sought to expand the spectrum of children play by examining the appearance of 5-year-old children in terms of material transformation of posthumanism, exploring materiality, and finding out the meaning of it. Methods To this end, data collection is four months from June. 1st. 2020 to September. 29th. 2020 at the age of five class during the spread of COVID-19, A total of 77 days of observation of children’s play was conducted, and the data was collected in various ways through photography and video, field notes, research diaries, and interactions in the learning community. Results According to this study, children freely play by interacting with newspapers and revealing various materialities, and the classification of newspaper play was newspaper play, newspaper reproducing, and bigger newspaper play. Finally, there were meanings such as “specificity-feeling material with the body,” “extensibility-following the power of matter,” and “creativity-creating space and time in one with matter,” focusing on the moments when materiality is most expressed in newspaper play. Conclusions This study suggests that the play process in which childhood explore materiality is truly children-led play, which is noted in the 2019 revised Nuri curriculum, and found the value of play in exploring materiality. It also suggests that there is an active learning in materiality in which children understand the essence of material that creates their own meaning by experience through the senses. It is expected to provide direction for teachers’ as play volunteers to support children-led play through the exploring for materiality of children.
