북한 이탈 어머니 자녀의 또래 유능성에 영향을 미치는 유아 개인 내·외적 변인 연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구의 목적은 북한 이탈 어머니 자녀의 또래 유능성에 영향을 미치는 유아 개인 내·외적 변인을 알아보는데 있다. 방법 이를 위하여 서울·경기·인천 지역에 거주하고 있는 유아기 자녀를 둔 북한 이탈 어머니 102명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하고, SPSS WIN 18.0 프로그램을 사용하여 다음과 같은 방법으로 분석하였다. 첫째, 연구대상자의 일반적 특성을 파악하기 위해 빈도와 백분율을 산출하고, 각 측정도구의 문항 간 내적 일치도를 알아보기 위하여 Cronbach’s α 계수를 구하였다. 둘째, 측정변수들의 전반적인 경향을 알아보기 위해 평균과 표준편차를 구하였다. 셋째, 사회인구학적 변인, 유아의 자기존중감, 어머니의 양육행동, 또래관계 관리전략, 어머니-교사관계가 유아의 또래 유능성에 미치는 상대적 영향력을 알아보기 위해 Pearson의 상관관계를 분석하고, 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 결과 본 연구결과 첫째, 유아의 자기존중감, 북한 이탈 어머니의 양육행동, 또래관계 관리전략, 어머니-교사관계 및 또래 유능성의 전반적 경향을 살펴 본 결과, 모두 보통 보다 높은 수준으로 나타났다. 둘째, 북한 이탈 어머니 자녀의 또래 유능성에 영향을 미치는 변인을 살펴본 결과, 유아의 자기존중감은 또래 유능성 전체, 또래 유능성의 하위 요인인 사교성, 친사회성, 주도성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 또래 유능성의 모든 하위 요인에 영향을 미치는 변인임을 알 수 있었다. 어머니의 또래관계 관리전략은 또래 유능성의 하위 요인인 친사회성과 주도성에 영향을 미치는 변인으로 나타났으며, 어머니-교사관계는 또래 유능성의 하위 요인인 사교성과 친사회성에 영향을 미치는 변인임을 알 수 있었다. 결론 본 연구결과를 통해서 북한 이탈 어머니 자녀들이 건강하게 적응하고 성장할 수 있도록 어머니 역할의 중요성과 함께 유아교사들에게는 북한 이탈 어머니 자녀의 특성을 이해시킴으로써 유아들이 처해있는 다양한 환경에 따라 다각적이고 차별화된 교육이 이루어 질 수 있도록 필요한 기초자료를 제공한다고 볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study considered individual internal and external factors affecting peer competence in children of North Korean refugee mothers, and intended to examine the influence that young children’s self-esteem, as internal factor, and their mother’s parenting behavior and management strategies for peer relations, as well as the mother-teacher relationship, as external factors, had on their peer competence. Methods The subjects of this study were 102 North Korean refugee mothers who lived in the areas of Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon and had a child in preschool. This study analyzed collected data using the SPSS WIN 18.0 program. To identify general characteristics of the research subjects, frequency and percentage were calculated. To check for internal consistency among items in each measurement instrument, Cronbach’s α was calculated. This study also determined the mean and standard deviation of measurement variables to identify their overall tendencies. Next, it conducted Pearson’s correlation and hierarchical regression analyses to examine the relative effect that measurement variables had on young children’s peer competence. Results The main results of this study are as follows. First, this study found a higher than normal level in all results identifying overall tendencies in a young children’s self-esteem, the North Korean refugee mothers’ parenting behavior and management strategies for peer relations, the mother-teacher relationship, and peer competence. Second, the results of examining variables that affected the peer competence of children of North Korean refugee mothers showed that young children’s self-esteem is a variable affecting all sub-factors of peer competence because it influences peer competence overall, as well as sociability, prosociality, and initiative, which were sub-factors for peer competence. It was found that the mother’s management strategies for peer relationships affected prosociality and initiative, while the mother-teacher relationship influenced sociability and prosociality. Conclusions This research results suggest that the contents of early childhood self-esteem should be emphasized to enable the children of North Korean refugees to healthily adapt and grow. This study also provided basic data required for ensuring multifaceted and differentiated education according to diversity in the child’s environment by helping early childhood teachers understand the importance of the mothers’ role in their children’s social characteristics.
