대학 교양필수 영어읽기와 영어쓰기 교과목 온라인 화상수업에 대한 학습자 인식 연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 코로나19 상황에서 대학 교양필수 영어읽기와 영어쓰기 교과목의 온라인 화상수업에 대한 학습자의 인식을 파악하고 수업형태에 따른 만족도 및 선호도와의 상호관계를 살피고 향후 정상적인 학기 교과목 운영에서 학습자들이 선호하는 교양필수 영어교과목 수업형태를 제안하는데 그 목적이 있다. 방법 연구대상은 A대학교 교양필수 2과목을 2학기 동안 모두 수강한 동일한 2학년 학생이며 구글 설문지를 사용하여 2020년 12월 29일부터 2021년 1월 15일까지 자료를 수집하였다. 통계자료는 R 프로그램을 활용하였으며, 기술통계, 일원배치분산분석, 이원배치분산분석을 통해 독립변수간의 상호작용을 검증하였다. 결과 두 교과목 모두 다양한 온라인 화상수업의 형태에 대한 만족도는 전공(대학)과 교과목 내용 각각에 대해서는 유의미한 차이를 토이지 않았으나, 온라인 수업형태, 전공과 수업형태, 과목 내용과 수업형태 변인들의 상호작용에 대해서는 유의미한 차이를 보였고, 이런 요인들이 만족도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 향후 수업형태 선호도에 대해서 영어읽기는 대면수업, 녹화 화상수업, 실시간 화상수업과 같은 독립형태 수업형태, 영어쓰기는 대면수업뿐만 아니라 대면 + 녹화 화상수업, 실시간 화상 + 녹화 화상수업의 병행 수업형태에 대한 선호도도 높았고, 대면수업과 실시간 화상수업은 수업 내용의 질과 면대면 상호작용의 필요성, 녹화 화상수업은 온라인 교육의 편리성의 이유로 선호하는 것으로 확인되었다.

영문 초록

Objectives This paper identifies learners’ perception of online classes for general English reading and writing as compulsory courses in the COVID-19 situation, examines the interrelationship with degree of satisfaction and preference according to the class types: face-to-face class, synchronous online class, and asynchronous online class, and proposes a preferred class type after the pandemic. Methods The subjects of this study were sophomores who took two English required courses for two semesters and the survey was conducted from December 29, 2020 to January 15, 2021. Statistical analysis was processed via R and verified the interaction between independent variables through descriptive analysis, one-way ANOVA, and two-way ANOVA. Results The results showed that each learner’s major and curriculum content was not statistically significant, but different class types, major and class types, and curriculum content and class types were statistically significant, indicating there might be an interaction between variables in terms of learners’ degree of satisfaction according to the different class types in both classes. Regarding the preferred class types after the pandemic, it was confirmed that independent class types, such as face-to-face class, asynchronous online class, and synchronous online class were highly preferred in order for reading class, whereas face-to-face class and hybrid class types, such as face-to-face class + asynchronous online class and synchronous + asynchronous online class were highly preferred in order for writing class. Conclusions It was also confirmed that preference of face-to-face class and synchronous online class was attributed to the quality of class content and the need for face-to-face communication, whereas that of asynchronous online class was attributed to convenience of online class.
