물리치료사의 노인에 대한 인식과 의사소통 저해요소 현황 연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 물리치료사를 대상으로 노인들에 대한 인식과 노인과 의사소통 시 저해요소 현황을 파악하는데 그 목적이 있다. 방법 2020년 2월부터 6월까지 노인들에게 의료서비스를 제공하는 전라북도의 물리치료사들을 대상으로 온라인 설문지와 종이 설문지를 활용하여 데이터를 수집하였다. 노인에 대한 인식, 노인과의 의사소통 저해요소를 묻는 질문지를 배포하고 최종 137부를 SPSS 프로그램으로 분석하였다. 결과 본 연구 결과, 물리치료사는 노인에 대해서 부정적으로 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 물리치료사가 노인과의 의사소통 시 의사소통을 방해하는 저해요소로 노인의 청각영역을 첫 번째로 꼽았으며, 다음으로 언어이해영역과 시각영역이 의사소통 저해요소로 확인되었다. 노인에 대한 인식을 물리치료사의 일반적 특성에 따라 t-검증 한 결과, 물리치료사의 연령, 임상경력, 근무환경, 노인대면비율이 노인에 대한 인식에서 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 노인과의 의사소통 저해요소는 물리치료사의 연령, 근무환경, 임상경력에 따라 부분적으로 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났으며 성별과 노인대면비율에서는 차이를 보이지 않았다. 결론 본 연구를 통해 노인의 특성에 대한 정확한 지식과 정보를 바탕으로 한 적절한 의사소통이 이루어지도록 맞춤형 의사소통 매뉴얼 개발과 검증이 이루어져야 하며 물리치료사의 의사소통역량 강화를 위한 체계적 교육과 제도를 제공해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study was to identify the overall perception of the elderly and the current status of factor that hindered communication with the elderly for physical therapist. Methods This survey was conducted using online questionnaires and paper questionnaires for physical therapists in Jeollabuk-do, who provide service to the elderly from February to June 2020. A final 137 questionnaires were used for data analysis. Results Physical therapists generally had a lot of negative perceptions of the elderly. In addition, as factors that hindered communication with the elderly, they responded in order of hearing-related, language understanding related, and visual-related. As a result of analyzing the perception of the elderly according to the general characteristics of physical therapists, the age, clinical experience, working environment, and the elderly face-to-face ratio of physical therapists showed differences in their perception of the elderly. The factors that hindered communication with the elderly were found to be different according to the physical therapist s age, working environment, and the elderly face-to-face ratio, and there was no difference in clinical experience. Conclusions Through this study, communication manuals should be developed and verified to ensure appropriate communication based on accurate knowledge and information on the characteristics of the elderly, and systematic educations should be provided to strengthen communication competencies of physical therapists
