국문 초록

이 글에서는 Packer의 관점에 근거하여 도덕성 발달 연구에서의 해석 활동의 의미와 가치, 그리고 내러티브와 해석의 관련 문제를 다루고 있다. Packer는 내러티브에 관한 서사학과 해석학의 연구 성과에 주목하는 과정에서 인식론적 차원이 아닌 존재론적 차원에서 도덕성 발달에 관한 논의의 지평을 확장해야 함을 강조한다. 도덕성이 발달한다는 것은 사고·판단에 따른 변화 수준을 넘어 정서의 발현과 행동으로의 변화를 촉구하는, 이른바 총체적 변화를 지향한다. 그리고 그 변화가 순조롭게 일어나기 위해서는 교사와 학생이 형성과 행위의 내러티브의 여정에 기꺼이 동참해야 한다. 도덕성은 누군가에 의해 이미 고정되거나 확정된 것을 위계적 구조에 의해 따라가는 것이 아니라, 마음을 표현하고 형성하는 내러티브 과정에서 시나브로 형성되고 정립되는 것으로 보아야 한다.

영문 초록

This study deals with the meaning and value of interpretive activities in the study of moral development and related issues of narrative and interpretation based on Packer s point of view. In his attention to the research of narratology and hermeneutics on narrative, Packer emphasizes the expansion of the horizon of the discussion of moral development at the ontological and not the epistemological level. The development of morality goes beyond the change of thinking and judgment, and aims for a total change that calls for a change of emotions and behavior. For the change to take place smoothly, teacher and student must be willing to participate in the narrative of formation and action. Morality is not followed by hierarchical structures that are already fixed by someone, but gradually formed and established in the narrative process of expressing and formating the moral mind.
