한 초등교사가 실천한 경제수업 사례연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 한 초등학교 교사가 사회과 경제수업을 구성하면서 가지는 어려움을 어떻게 극복해가는지에 대한 미시적 탐구이다. 이를 위해 한 교사가 경제수업을 구성한 과정을 자기 회상자료로 만들고 수업을 실행하기까지의 과정을 질적 사례연구를 통해 살펴보았다. 그 결과 연구참여자가 초등학교 경제수업을 하는 데 가장 큰 어려움은 교과서 내용배열의 모호성, 경제교육이 빠진 활동 중심수업, 전문적 학습공동체의 부재였다. 교과서의 내용배열이 애매할 경우 수업을 구성하는 교사는 어떻게 내용을 재구성해야 할지, 어떤 방법을 사용해야 할지에 대해서 혼란을 느끼게 된다. 둘째, 활동의 본질적 의미를 깨닫지 못하고 단순히 학생들의 흥미를 끌기 위해 활동 중심수업을 전개할 경우 경제교육이 빠진 경제수업이 진행된다. 셋째, 학교 내에서 경제교육의 관점에서 수업에 도움을 주는 전문적 학습공동체가 구축되지 않으면 수업을 구성하는 과정에서 교사는 경제교육의 관점에서 수업에 대한 어떠한 도움을 받지 못한다는 것이다. 이처럼 본 연구는 초등학교 경제수업을 하는 과정에서 한 교사가 가지는 어려움을 통해 초등학교 경제수업이 올바르게 진행되기 위한 몇 가지 조건을 제시하였다. 이러한 연구는 실제로 경제수업을 하는 현장 교사들에게 도움을 줄 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 교육과정과 교과서를 설계하는 연구자들이 초등학교 경제수업에 관한 내용을 조직하는 데에도 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study is a microscopic exploration of how an elementary school teacher overcame the difficulties of organizing economic classes of social studies. For this purpose, the process of a teacher organizing economic classes were made as self-recall data and we examined the process until the classes were practiced through qualitative case studies. As a result, we found that the biggest difficulties for the participants in the economic classes of elementary school were the ambiguity of the contents arrangement in textbook, the activity based classes without economic education and absence of the professional learning community. When contents arrangement in textbook is ambiguous, teachers who organize classes were confused about how to reorganize contents and what kind of method to use. Second, if teachers conduct activity based classes merely to attract student s interest without realizing the essential meaning of activities, economic classes without economic education will be carried out. Third, when professional learning community that can help classes with the perspective of economic education is not organized within the school, the teacher cannot receive any help on the classes with the perspective of economic education in the process of organizing classes. This study suggested a few conditions for economic classes in elementary school to be properly conducted through the difficulties of a teacher experienced in the process of performing economic classes in elementary schools. This study can not only help teachers in field who conduct economic classes, but also help researchers who design curriculum and textbooks to organize the contents of economic class in elementary school.
