한국 노인의 삶의 만족도와 영향 요인은 시대에 따라 어떻게 변화했는가?

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 2011년 노인과 베이비붐 세대가 진입한 2020년 노인을 비교하여 삶의 만족도와 그 영향 요인이 어떤 차이를 나타내고 있는지를 알아보았다. 이를 통해 향후 노인을 대상으로 하는 교육과 복지정책 등의 방향 설정에 필요한 기초 자료를 제공하고자하였다. 방법 본 연구는 노인의 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 크게 건강, 교육, 사회적 관계의 세 영역으로 구분하여 분석하였다. 연구의 대상은 노인실태조사 2011년 참여자 10,675명과 2020년 10,097명이다. 이들을 대상으로 두 시대 노인이 갖고 있는 거주지역, 배우자 유무, 교육수준 및 평생교육 참여 등의 일반적 특성에서의 차이를 분석하였다. 삶의 만족도와 그 영향 요인들의 수준이시대에 따라 어떤 차이를 나타내는지를 일표본 t검정으로 분석하였다. 또한 건강, 교육, 사회적 관계 영역의 여러 변수들이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향이 시대에 따라 어떻게 차이가 나타나는지를 분석하였다. 결과 2011년의 노인에 비해 2020년의 노인은 교육수준이 크게 향상되었으며, 삶의 만족도와 건강 영역의 평소 건강상태, IADL, 인지기능이 향상되었다. 반면 우울과 만성질환 수는 감소하였다. 교육 영역에서는 교육연수와 평생교육 참여 모두 향상되었다. 사회적 관계 영역에서는 노인의 가족관계성과 대인관계성이 모두 감소하였다. 2011년과 2020년 모두에서 평소 건강상태, 인지기능, 만성질환 수, 교육연수 및 가족관계성이 노인의 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치고 있었다. 결론 앞으로의 노인 대상 교육과 복지정책은 변화된 노인의 특성을 반영하여 보다 높은 교육적 수준을 전제로 진행되어야 한다. 또한 노인의 삶의 만족도를 향상시키기 위해 평소 건강상태, 인지기능, 만성질환 수, 교육연수 및 가족관계성을 향상시키기 위한사회적 노력이 필요하다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aimed to compare the life satisfaction and its influencing factors between the elderly population in 2011 and in 2020, when the baby boom generation entered. Through this comparison, it was intended to provide basic data necessary for setting the direction of education and welfare policies targeting the elderly in the future. Methods This study analyzed the factors affecting the life satisfaction of the elderly, categorizing them into three areas: health, education, and social relationships. The study included a total of 10,675 participants from the Elderly Survey in 2011 and 10,097 participants from 2020. Differences in the general characteristics of the two generations of elderly, such as residential area, marital status, educaitonal level, and lifelong learning participation, were analyzed. The levels of the life satisfaction and its influencing factors were analyzed using one-sample-t tests to examine the differences between the two time periods. Furthermore, this study analyzed how various variables in the domains of health, education, and social relationships differed in their impact on life satisfaction across different time periods. Results Compared to the elderly in 2011, the elderly in 2020 showed significant improvements in their educational level, life satisfaction, and health-related areas such as overall health status, instrumental activities of daily living (IADL), and cognitive function. On the other hand, depression and the number of chronic diseases decreased. In the domain of education, both educational attainment and lifelong learning participation improved. In the social relationships domain, both family relationships and interpersonal relationships of the elderly decreased. In both 2011 and 2020, overall health status, cognitive function, the number of chronic diseases, educational attainment, and family relationships all influenced the life satisfaction of the elderly. Conclusions Future educational and welfare policies targeting the elderly should take into account the changing characteristics of the elderly population and be based on higher educational levels. In addition, social efforts are needed to improve the overall health status, cognitive function, number of chronic diseases, educational attainment, and family relationships in order to enhance the life satisfaction of the elderly.
